This thread serves as an entrance to The Great Library of Apolyton.
The Great Library is a never ending effort to concentrace all the humankind's knowledge about the Civ2.
Now The Great Library is formed by
Great Library Index #2
(if the link doesn't work you can load a copy stored as Poly attachment here)
The original index is here: Great Library Index (#1).
The Great Library Index #2 includes only 'condensed' threads, i.e. threads that store a terse information. In contrast with the original Great Library Index the order is not alphabetical but hierarchical.
The debate about ways how to manage The Great Library goes in Great Library Discussion.
This thread (Great Library Index #2) serves as place where you can post candidates that should be added in the index. Another help you could provide is to advise correct links to new threads if current links point to archives only.

I topped this one, and released the other two threads since there is a link to the original GL included in Number 2.
Let me know if maybe I shouldn't have done that.

A great thread to include, if you can find it, would be the one describing Ming's first successful OCC game. |
There was at the time... but it was way before the original server switch a few years ago, and I don't know if it's still around. If I get a chance, I'll look for it, but it may be lost forever.

I have added the tools section. I ask authors so that they let me know if a new thread will replace the old one.

I really enjoy reading through these threads. One slight beef though. How come some of them you have to scroll right, scroll left, scroll right, scroll left.....
And others fit perfectly on my screen. I'm afraid the ultimate secret of civ2 is in here somewhere but I won't have the patience to read it. I tried reducing the text size under the view menu, no help. Perhaps it is just the older ones that are like this?

I've been reading about the size five city stratagy. A comment was made on that thread to the effect that it would work better with a setting of 1xprod as opposed to 2xprod. Where is this setting of 2xprod? I think it would help me!

stealthlover,
yes, thread from archives have wide format. You could search for new versions of them in forums:

But only newer archives have copies in present forums...
2x production or 2x movement can be set easily in multiplayer mode. In single player you have to edit rules.txt.
