In MP does player level effect start location? and other Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete


We just started our 3rd huge MP bts game at work.
This time we are using different skill levels, some players are on warlord, most on noble and I'm on Immortal (I won the last two games ).
I've always been under the impression that difficulty level doesn't effect start location. This game has made me question that assumption.

The warlord guy has the craziest resource dense island I have ever seen and my island is a jungle with 2 fish; its going to be a fun challenge.

Another MP related question.
What happens when our players are handed over to the AI, with regards to the difficulty level. Does my AI have a handicap (or advantage?) over the warlord guys AI?.
