I'm Slow
I never updated anything from the original game install. Can you post SIMPLIFIED instructions to get to the latest updates from where I am? Which is at the very beginning.
Thanks,
Steve

You could post the Apolyton link and one with no ...'s in the title, that would be simpler

Really Stupid
Okay, I guess I deserved it! I just thought that if it was Add on #2 I inferred that you had to do an Add on #1 first - you know, in some kind of order.
So here's the stupid question #2. Do I delete the folder or the files in the folder. Does the download replace the folder? Okay. laugh some more.

Sorry logicman, I just wasn't sure on what you needed simplified.
The add-on is a complete version, with everything.
So delete the Road to War folder, and unzip the download to the Mods folder. It recreates the Road to War folder.
When you asked for simplified instructions I though you meant something like:
1. Downloading automatically installs the add-on to your computer and starts it.

RtW AOP2 was downloaded 10,000+ times in the first 48 hours!
That's a whoping 4 Terrabytes of data!
This takes all RtW downloads to over the 100K mark.
Thanks everyone.

Spanish Civil War
Dale,
how can I use my forces to gain experience in Spain? I can't move my units (air/ground) into Spain or attack either the Nationalists or the others. It is Aug 36 and I already got the message about the War beginning. Thanks.

Unless you are the Republican or Nationalist forces yourself, there's nothing you can do in Spain. Unfortunately, there is nothing in Civ4 I could work off to simulate the real SCW.
Woulda been nice eh?

Hi Dale,
I have anxiously awaited, downloaded, and used every version of RTW yet. I have played A LOT (finished at least 15 games in Europe map alone), and I love how you keep improving and tweaking.
I want to comment on the unit balance in the current build in the European theater.
German PZIVs have a strength of 35. This is quite high, and isn't historically accurate in regards to the Russian T34 which was a match for the PZIV.....but I assume that you have made the PZIVs strong for balancing purposes to make sure Germany is powerful enough, so this is fine.
What is odd is that the Tiger also has a strength of 35, but 1 fewer movement point and actually costs more to build.
It's also the same strength as the modern tank, though the modern tank has 3 movement points.
I don't know if there is a way to fix these things without throwing off the balance, but I just wanted to bring it up. Thanks for all of your hard work!

I have been busy so I haven't had time to install and try out the add on pack until now but it seems to have fixed the problem.
I haven't really tried RtW since its initial version so I haven't really followed with all the changes but I like all the additional start dates and playable countries that seem to be added.

I installed 3.13 for BtS, then loaded RtW and found that the add-on pack came with the patch. But before I can start the game, an error message pops up. This happens every time I try to play RtW now, and never before, so wtf.

What is the error message? Also, you might want to download the file in this thread - the addon you downloaded probably isn't the newest version (as 3.13 has been out for a long time now, and this file is only a month or so old).

Actually it turns out the error message is happening in regular games, too. I've tried 3 different games and all have gotten the "Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword has incountered a problem and needs to close" message.

No indication of what error it is? When does it occur (precisely, not just 'before it starts'... what is on the screen, what did you click last. etc.)
Make sure you've updated your DirectX, for one... that's a common error. The result may be a reinstall - your install may be corrupt - or something else.

Should have know better I had downloaded Add-On pack 2 back in June, then recently installed the 3.17 patch. After that, the Road to War mod no longer worked. I've restored the original Road to War mod folder from the Recycle Bin, and re-patched to version 3.17, and can now play the original mod OK.
Any chance Add-On Pack 2 will be updated for the 3.17 patch?

RTW Add-on Pack 2
Hey Dale
Excellent Mod.
I have a problem with loading saved games in RTW Pack 2. I've read some of the other replies and it sounds like this is happening to more than just me. Do you recognize this as a problem with Pack-2 or is it something I can do something about on my end?
I reinstalled CIV BTW and the patches in their right order. I then plugged in the zipped file for ADD-ON 2 and put the folder in the right place. And I"m still screwed.
I've also tried to load the autosaved games and I get the same problem.
If I recall, the first RTW add-on had the same problem initially and it took a patch to fix it.
What do you think about a fix for this problem?
By the way - masterful job on this Mod. You're the Man
