We will without doubt be the greatest team ever! And when others see our greatness they will leave their inferior team and come to us begging to let them in. Remember, we speak only the truth.

I'm sure that the delay in posting this thread is a clever tactic to lure our enemies into thinking that we would not mount a significative resistance, but now they know that we're alive and ready to face them in the cruelest possible manner. :)
(Phew! I thought I would have to start this thread after all... :relief: )
Welcome thruthful friend. :) Our style of play will of course include some very innovative and cunning strategy. We will throw shoes at the infidels, and steal their bananas.
I have a large quantity of bio-banana warheads stockpiled in my bedroom. I relish the chance to conquer the world with these super advanced weapons and to steal the vast shoe resources of Team Sunshine.

r u guys gonna be persia? (modern day iraq)

Isn't it Babylon (modern day Iraq)? The city of Babylon was somewhere south of today's Baghdad and I think Basra is the former Ur.
AFAIK Persia is Iran.

The Ottomans would be better choice since the Turks actually contolled the region(Mesopotamia) that is now Iraq from around 1500 to the late 1800's
Before that there were the Mongols, the Assyrians, Babylononians and the Sumerians in contol of Mesopotamia, which by the way is a Greek word meaning "between two river's." The Tigris and the Euphrates.

Aren't you guys all missing the fact that modern-day Iraq is in fact Arab?
(apart from their assorted minorities, of course...)

GT is right. Modern Iraq is made up mostly of Arabs, with some other Middle Eastern peoples mixed in for good fun. So if you wanted to be ethnically correct, you'd need to be the Arabs. ;)

We could or could not be talking about modern day, Trip & GT. There are certainly no Babylonians around today is there? Or what about Persians? The choice of Civ that would cover this region inhabitied by Modern Day Iraq is what I was geting at, not neccessarily who's there today and tommorow. The game starts in 4000 BC around when Sumerians were in control of the region. That being that, there' no "perfect" Civ for this region. If you wanted to mimick current day situations, then Arabia would be the way to go.
You get my drift. :)

But we're talking the Minister of Disinformation here, man!
Sounds like an ad for Ozzy Osbourne or something. :D

He hasn't left his job, he's just on an administrative leave.
In fact, he's commanding the Iraqi armed forces currently besieging Washington DC. Infidels!!!@#$!
You missed the point here, wether Mohammed al-Sahaf is 'former' iraqi information minister or just on administrative leave is completely irrelevant. What matters here is that WE are his diciples and will enter (and win of course) this game following his golden rule. We tell the truth.
It really doesn't matter which tribe we play, we'll win. The infidels will suffer badly. They will be left starving in the desert, crying for their mothers, and bananas.
Krakan , welcome among us. Any opinions on which tribe you should go for? Honesty and thruthfulness are sadly not among civ3 traits.
You are still just a bunch of imposters!!! Infidel imposters!
Well....in my opinion, Persia is not a good choice, since that is modern day Iran. I think the Arabs fit more civ wise with modern Iraq ( culturally and geographically ). However, whatever civ is finally decided, our forces will undoubtedly prevail over the savage infidels comprising the rest of the world.

I did not post in this thread
:eager:
I wanna join the best and most hansome team with the most members
IMHO Babylon would suit this team best, since it is as close as you can get to modern day Iraq.
Of course, this is only a suggestion; I am not a member of this team so I have no right to vote for or against any civ.

Team Sunshine is both the best and the most handsome team...
have a nice sunshine day :hippie:
OPD, welcome friend. May the thruth be with you. Oops
Babylonians are religious and scientific right? I was thinking that a civ with religious and militaristic would be more appropriate. Don't remember which tribe got those traits, have to look it up.
Thirgaral , remember that we always tell the thruth, always I tell you.

You have seen too many Hollywood movies that is why you live in such a crazy dream world. The Aztecs are the closest to modern day Iraq. Why Bagdad is Turkish for "home of the most intelligent Aztec fathers."
Why do you think that the Aztec UU is called the Jaguar warrior when all Jaguar cars are made in Iraq.
I was mistaken before. Yes persia would be more Iran not Iraq. :p
Hmm....so how are we going to divide up responsibilities for the game? :eager: I volunteer to be Minister of Banana Quality Control and Production.. I will not rest until all the :hippie: turn into :surrender:.
This team looks great. Its way better than my lame Team Monkey. I should have seen the light and the truth before and joined the one and only team that has only the coolest members from poly but now I am stuck, like the rest of us, with some lame ass team that we created because we thought it would be cool. Boy are we in for some reality check when we start the game. Mohammed al-Sahaf Team is gonna soooo r0x0r. (wait thats L337 team  )
[/Mohammed al-Sahaf Team style speech] ;)
*Calc throws monkey poo at Mohammed al-Sahaf Team* :D
This team(and theme) has without doubt the greatest potential for cool titles. I was thinking of placing myself as Minister of Peace or perhaps Minister of good news. We obvioulsy need an Über-Dictator and a Minister of Grammar and Speling as well.
Calc, if you choose to CF me might be able to provide you with a job as Chief Executive Officer of Plumbing and Sanitary Facilities.
Just for the record we no longer do those cruel experiments on monkeys in our nation and we now only perform tests on monkeys that have died of natural causes. Also we have stopped eating monkeys except for special occasions like wednesdays or sundays or if the sun is shining and when we do we are sure to give the fur back to the relatives of the deceased. We don't make monkey fur coats anymore.
I'd say we should have a millitary commander called minister of peace. Then domestic min called foreign minister and foreign min called domestic min.
How about a Minister of Truth and Enlightenment? He can spread the war reports and educate the savage peoples of the other civs as to the true nature of the world. The lies Team :hippie: spreads are too happy and noone ( save myself and a few others ) is equipped to even understand Team L337 H4x0rs' reports.
I think we should have a minister of enlightenment who just goes around pointing out spelling mistakes in other teams posts.
I don't know about Minister of Truth and Enlightenment, that's just newspeak for minister of information and that's a job I want all of us to hold ALL the time :p
OPD , great idea for improve foreign relations :D
Didn't I mention a minister for Spelling and Grammar?
I like the "Minister of Enlightenment" idea. Good way to irk our enemies, those diabolical liars who only want to corrupt our purity. :)
Looks like I am outnumbered here. We could of course have both minster of information AND minister of enlightenment. We may end up with 3-4 minstries each :p
I guess that's the price we have to pay to tell the thruth.
Oh, do you mean you had already suggested the "Minister of Information" idea? Fine, then. :b:
Hm, you got me a bit confused there. Thinking of it I don't remebmer actually proposing a minister of information as that is the job-title of al-Sahaf himself. I was thinking more in the lines of EVERYBODY being minister of information, just to add some clarity :)
Oh, ok. Maybe I need a personal Minister of Interpretation and Learning How to Read Posts. :D
I praise the genius who came up with this team!
WE LOVE THE IRAQI INFORMATION MINISTER!
WE WILL GREET THEM WITH BULLETS AND SHOES!
GOD WILL ROAST THEIR STOMACHS IN HELL!
I'm in, guys.

BTW, I volunteer to be the Ambassador to Team l337 Speak, seeing as how I am pretty fluent in it ( by accident ) and I doubt anyone else wants the position.
Aye Thud, you're in.
May the thruth be with you :)
Krakan, you have my vote for taking the job as ambassador to Team l337 Speak. What kind of an accident caused you to speak l337 BTW?

I play counter-strike a lot, and I actually tried to understand the stuff people were saying ( got bored when I was dead ) and it sorta happened. :bash:
Welcome, Thud. :b:
And Krakan has my vote too, I would never be able to understand them anyway. :)

Seems like a pretty boring job. All we'll be doing is issueing reports of the infidels' suicides outside out=r cities.
It's finally time to start our glorious march towards victory. But first we have something (almost) important to do.
1) Elect a leader.
2) Choose an icon to symbolise our great team.
PTW DGII registration thread (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87506)
All team members can come forward with suggestions. Non-members can come forward for membership.

So who wants to be the leader? Bongo and I seem to be the most active posters, but if anyone else wants it, speak up.

I don't really mind about either of these.

I'll start a photochop tonight for an icon. Any requests on what you want it to include?
I'v been toying a bit with Paint(tm) lately and come up with a couple of suggestions.
http://apolyton.net/upload/files/bongo/crest.GIF
I'm particulary fond of the green '101' on a black crest. The 'I' on top stands for 'information'. We can of course replace it with a 'T'.
Well, since Krakan and bongo are both running for the leader position, I'll wait till there's a final position about how many candidates we'll have (I'm not one of them :D ) in order to cast my vote.
As for the icon, it should be something related to our beloved Mohammed Al-Sahaf, of course. My own artistic skills are despisable, but I'll support the best options offered. :)
We should also start to discuss what will be our civ. I recall that some people have suggested the Arabs and the Persians as possible choices, but I don't think it should be related to "real" circunstances, given that Team Latin Lover chose the Carthaginians (and not Spain, which would have been their "natural" choice ;) ).
We need to make up our mind soon, Krakan got my vote for leader. I've got too much RL-stuff coming up to be a reliable leader.
I'm pretty sure we agreed upon choosing the aztecs as our Tribe. We all know that they were an ancient mesopotamian tribe :p Apart from that they are also militaristic and religious.
As for my suggestions of icons. I like the top left best, almost matrix like :)
Krakan

The top left icon sounds good to me, and thanks for the vote Bongo. I didn't have time to make up an icon because I had to go to orientation for college.
You've got a busy life as well eh? I will make a final version of our icon tomorrow, when I get back to work. Currently it is the only quiet spot in my life
Krakan as our leader and Aztecs as our civ. Any protests or suggestions?
