If I can find a way to come up with 45$ Iīll buy it, but Iīm waiting for RoN as well (another 45$ :( ). Besides I donīt really have time for playing games, I should be out looking for work or finishing my website so I have a portfolio of my writing easily available.

I shouldnīt be spending so much time on Poly either...

I recall when the money was an object. I long for these times. Unbelievably as it may seem, it's a lot better to have lot of things you want but can afford than to be able to afford anything, yet find noting of interest.

With GalCiv and Moo3 coming, I'll get them, at least. Perhaps the NWN expansions, as well. Nothing else I can think of, really.

I wish someone would start thinking of a SMAC 2.

Or lots of talent and life experience but not know what to do with your life.

Ain't that the truth.

Well, spamming Poly is good for a bit of distraction anyway, right?

Yeah, well, Iīm getting a wee bit tired of never having any money. I suppose Iīll have to find myself a job or something... ;)

EB and Gamestop are both taking pre orders for $39.

Itīs still 39$ I donīt have. For example, my ISP is cutting my internet acess in a week if I canīt come up with 120$ until then (which I canīt) and thatīs not the only bill thatīs overdue :(

I've already got a subscription to the Drengin Network, so I've been playing the beta for a few weeks already.

Since betas are out, I guess there should be reviews/previews somewhere. Are there any? Worth reading? Or do the beta testers have a NDA?

Yes. But you feel so empty afterwards...

HOW does one search the news?

1) if the forum display and show thread pages, there is "multisearch" box. one of the choices says "news". that one searches the apolyton news archive

2) the search page in the news archive

From what i understand there is no NDA for the betatesters.
Stardock has been very open about the GalCiv development, definitely becoming one of my favorite developers. :b:

Can't find any mention of a NDA in the license file I found in my drengin directory, and, as stated, the beta is very open.

Edan, is it any good?

I'm enjoying it. Good gameplay, IMO, and runs fine (though it does need some tweaking). The AI is more than competent (read: I've only managed to win one game out of about 6 or 7 :shame: ). I'm sure the previews linked to will provide you enough information, unless you have a specific question.

OK I found it. It really doesn't give much info , though. Less than what can be seen on the official site, no gameplay opinions...

Well, i got the beta about a week ago, and i have to say "GO OUT AND GET IT!"

Best bit of strategy gaming ive had since MOO2 without a doubt. Its nice to see a lot of the concepts they had in Civ3 actually work in this one - The diplomacy for starters is way better, as is trade.

Compared to the stuff ive seen on MOO3 so far, im quite happy sticking with GALCIV. Must say though, if anything, its likely to appeal most to CIV players than necessarily MOO players (although most are probably both come to think of it) due to just how the game plays. All in all i'd give it a good 9/10 and i might add that ive found the Beta very stable too (one or two crashes out of a heck of a lot of gaming hours so far) so im expecting it to be a really solidly built game as well by the time it hits the shops.

It would have been nice to see a multiplayer option, but then considering ive been playing my current game for about 12 hours solid (and thats only a large galaxy) then i can kinda see why it was perhaps thought of as not being perhaps suitable for the game.

Id forget the hype surrounding MOO and check this out, I would say you will be pleasantly surprised!
