Thank you, Thank you and again Thank you.
MarkG, you put together a superb pack. Very professional. This IS the super apolyton combo mod everybody has been waiting for. Great documentation (which is often overlooked.) Easy effortless installation. Excellent use of the icons in the map scenarios.
The ability to switch between regular games and mod games effortlessly has brought CTP up quite a few notches in my book.
And lets not forget the actual mod creaters and others such as CD, TP, Paul and Harlan. You have made this much more enjoyable.

Mark G, can you make the documentation a separate download? I'd rather read about it before making the big 4.2MB download.

well, you can download the small v0.5-v0.55 updater which has the latest readme, but here it is
---------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
The Apolyton Pack combines the most popular modification packs and maps for Activision's Civilization Call to Power. Using the "scenario pack" feature of the 1.2 Patch, installation is now simplified, and default game files are not overwritten. Plus, the best fan created files are combined in one easy download.
---------------------------------------------
DISCLAIMER & COPYRIGHT
1) THIS MATERIAL IS NOT MADE OR SUPPORTED BY ACTIVISION
2) more later....
---------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
Simply unzip the contents of the zip file in the your CTP folder. If you have installed it at C:\Program Files\Activision\Civilization-Call To Power, you should point Winzip to that folder.
Also, change the DebugSlic line to Yes in the userprofile.txt in the ..\ctp_program\ctp folder
You can ignore the installation instructions in the other readme files
---------------------------------------------
NOTES, KNOWN ISSUES
1) GL txt files initially(28.Aug) had to be copied to ctp_data\english\gamedata\gl in order to work. Placing them in scenarios\Apolyton\english\gamedata\gl didn't do anything. The same was needed for for tga files at scenarios\Apolyton\default\pictures and the catapult sounds at scenarios\Apolyton\default\sound.
Now(29.Aug), renamed versions of CD's GL texts have been placed in the default folders
2) With Harlan's mod included, if you choose the random map scenario, you will see the default civ names in the civ selection window. This happens as the pack's files have not been loaded yet. So, if you choose the Nigerians, you will actually play with the Austrians. However, if you start a new game, and then start another one, the pack will be already loaded and you will see the correct civ names
3) Starting locations: World 8: a few where changed to be more accurate; World 24: random ones; EastMed: Correct ones and two more civs added for a total of 8
4) Games started with previous versions of Apolyton Pack will probably not function correctly
---------------------------------------------

Dan,
Great work, this sounds good - I convinced a friend to buy CTP to play via email, and with this modpack, there's a guarantee that we will both have the same setup. And with the easy install, us non-programmers won't have to worry about installing files in their proper place.
My question is, I currently have most of the mods on my system (CD 4.2, Graphics for CD, and Harlan's Graphic). With the new patch, I cannot get message boxes for city improvements that have been built. In your testing, did you run into this problem, and if you did, were you able to fix the coding to overcome this problem? And if I download and use, should I do a complete reinstall of the game and patch before installing the mod?
http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif Again, thanks!!

Hex, I would do that complete re-install. In fact, that's exactly what I did.
Markos,
2 typo/spelling errors, both in message boxes. One is "zivilisation" (I think, I didn't write it down, but I know it starts with "z") the other is "civilisation". The 2nd one is in the ranking box that pops up every 12 turns or so.
There's one more "bug" in the Apolyton Mod too, and my appologies for not documenting it better. But after some advance it says that Warrior is now obsolete, but I can still build them. I just discovered Bureaucracy and got the same message, but quit right then so I haven't checked it out for that advance.

Hmm...interesting Hex.
I did a complete re-install and then installed the mods that you list, and also got exactly the same problem, and I dont see any indication of when the next population is due on the workers field display. I had assumed that I hadn't re-installed the mods properly and have spent most of last evening trying to fix it. I noticed that if I replace the script.slc with Activisions patch 1.2 version (or TPs) it fixes this problem but generates a different series of errors-something like missing terrain types in the database.
So until I read your post I assumed I had made an error in installing the mods. Now I wonder if there is some incompatibility between the features of patch 1.2 and CDs mod.
I decided to go this option rather than download the Apolyton Pack, as I had all the mods already, and I am quite happy that my "permanent" version of CTP has these mods built in.
Now, I think I may go for another re-install and providing I am sure that the Pack doesnt compromise on any of the features of the mods, I will go that route. (But I still would like to know if there is a simple fix to correct my present set-up)

hexagonian, I havent seen this problem. what the pack does is different than put the mods over patch 1.2, since no original game files are overwritten.
now, if you have modified game files from various mods, and try to use the pack, I dont think you will have any problems. I dont have any feedback on such cases though. I re-installed before applying the 1.2 patch.
Big Dave,
thanks for the spelling corrections
as for the warrior problem, are you sure it happens only with the pack, or could it happen with normal game too? I happened to be in a similar position in a game yesterday, and I couldnt built warriors after discovering Bureaucracy. I remember it cause I hadn't discovered the advances for Legions or Phalanxes, and I was builting Mounted Archers instead... http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif
JimMac, the script.slc in CD's mod should not be used as the 1.2 patch changes it.
You can download the ApolytonPack035-05.zip file which is only 71K and contains a correct script.slc http://apolyton.net/ctp/files/apolytonpack/ApolytonPack035-05.zip
and be sure that the pack doesnt change one bit from the mods included http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif

Markos,
I'm trying to load a saved game and I get a dialog box titled Paths Error with the message "'GC067.SPR' not found in asset tree." and a button OK. Clicking OK closes CTP.
You might want to start a new thread for issues for the Apolyton Mod Pack. That way all of your problems are in one place. http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif

ah, you just found what we "apolyton packers" http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif call "the scenario feature bug" http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif
yes, it seems that the scenario feature has a bug concerning saving a game, in single player games only though
the suggested way to solve this right now is to start a new random map game using the pack and then loading your saved game.
this happens cause in single player games which use the pack, ctp writes the saved game as a normal no-scenario saved game
of course all this will be documented in the readme of the final version http://apolyton.net/forums/smile.gif

"am using cd's and harlans mods in a scenario"
which means exactly? you are making a scenario pack with cd's and harlan's mods?
most probably the same solution applies
remember that this is not a apolyton pack bug, it's a ctp bug...

JimMac (and Mark),
The script.slc file download that Mark suggested didn't work for me. I got the same error messages you were getting.
Mark and other Apolyton Packers,
This is why I am hoping that the pack that you are working on will solve this problem that I am having.
Another (possibly dumb) question - Since you said that none of the original game files are overwritten with the Modpack, is there any steps that someone has to take to start a new game using the Modpack? Does the Modpack set up files in the Scenerio folder - so do you have to start a game, save it and place it in a Scenerio Pack folder, and then activate it using the Select Scenerio button?
JimMac
September 5, 1999, 02:50
Hex.
That particular script.slc didn't work for me either, so I decided to go ahead and uninstall (removing the mods), re-install and download the Apolyton Pack.
I am at turn 200 and it has worked for me perfectly so far...(well, more or less http://apolyton.net/forums/wink.gif
-You must load your save as Markos indicates above, it doesn't pick up a new colors.txt from the scenario folder, and I don't get the siege engine sound- as Markos indicates in the readme. (And I have 1 other sound quirk - see the PowerSLIC problem thread but I think this is due to my P.C. rather than the Apolyton Pack).
So, I recommend to you that you also install the Apolyton Pack. Its Great! http://apolyton.net/forums/biggrin.gif

the siege engine sounds doesnt work?
dont you have catfire.wav and catmove.wav in ctp_data\default\sound?
MarkG
September 5, 1999, 04:04
hex, to install you only have to unzip it in the ctp folder and enabled the DebugSlic variable in userprofile.txt
the structure if the zip allows that everything will go to the correct place with one extract command
btw, if you haven't downloaded it yet, get the v0.9 version http://apolyton.net/ctp/files/apolytonpack/ApolytonPack09.zip
it's mainly the v0.55, very minor changes have been made, we're only holding the release because we're searching the "scenario feature bug"

Markos,
Thanks to your recent post I have got my catapault sounds working. I went to check that the wav. files were in the folder you mentioned, and found that there were 2 folders for sound, the other being tp_data\default\sounds.
After I copied them to the "sound" folder, I get my squeeky wheel back again. I just checked your version 5.0 install zip, and it appears that this is putting the sounds in the wrong folders -I may be wrong though.

Mark,
Almost there, I'll be downloading the Modpack in a day or so - when I'll have access to a faster online connection.
I have a few more questions about the following,
"the suggested way to solve this is to start a new random map game using the pack and then loading your saved game"
It's my understanding that with patch 1.2, there is a feature that allows a player to have several mods on his system and he can choose which one to play with without the hassle of reinstalling. The Modpack is supposed to use this feature.
I understand how to overcome the 'Scenerio Bug' issue, but am confused about the first part of your statement. How do I initially set up a game using the Modpack, as opposed to setting up a game without the Modpack?
My current setup, with patch 1.2 and combination of Mods also will not allow me to play Hotseat/PBEM. (blank screen after turn 1) Has the Modpack been tested for Hotseat/PBEM, because this is probably the main reason that I want to use the Modpack?
Make sure you cover this in your final Readme, if you haven't already.
MarkG
September 5, 1999, 15:48
"How do I initially set up a game using the Modpack, as opposed to setting up a game without the Modpack?"
First of all lets use the "official" term which is scenario pack(that's in order to avoid confusion)
scenario packs are installed on a separate folder under ..\scenarios\
without overwritting any game files
Now, in the new game screen there is a "select scenario" button which allows you to select a scenario pack. if you dont select any, you will play with the standard game files
this actually in the readme of the 1.2 patch....
"Has the Modpack been tested for Hotseat/PBEM"
A short test on hotseat with a few turns showed no problems

Decided to go ahead and download now (even as I type). Looking forward to using it.

Makes me wonder why you didn't have the incompatibilities in the Patch/Mod setup, since your Modpack had basically the same stuff that I had.
Anyhow, Great Job!
