OK, I'd like to propose this in the main forum. Tell me what you think.

I propose to reduce the turn timer from 48 hours to 36 hours. I think we are suffering from Parkinson's law here, where usually people play in good time but occasionally the teams play their turns in the final few hours only because they can. I believe that if the turn timer were to be shortened then that would not have a significant effect on teams being able to play their turns - people would be able to adapt.

The RL time for a "48 hour" turn is roughly 57 hours, a conversion factor of 1.188. If we were to reduce the timer to "36 hours" then that's just under 43 RL hours to play. I think that's enough time - what do the other teams think?

I am fine with that.

I think it's a good plan - though cattle-prodding some of the teams into actually ending their turns would also help!

For this turn, do we think that Imperio know that the game is back up and running? They have not touched it since the 19th, and they were very prompt in their play and ending their turn just before the patch fiasco (setting up ahead of Templars one assumes).

Hmm...sending them a heads up e-mail might be a good idea for multiple reasons.

This is a good idea. One optional addition would be to clarify that we can expand the timer if another 3-way war develops so that each team always has at least 16 hours to play.

If they check their emails then they know the game is back up because we told them that we proposed the gold-wines deal in-game.

I like the proposal with Sunrise's clause about timer extensions for muti-way wars.

Me too, and it'll probably work into the favour of the more active teams. Like eh, for instance, eh, Realmsbeyond!

My main issue with sunrise's clause is that we're likely to be in a 3-way war again quite soon. With limited contact with the game host (snoopy), it might be quite annoying to keep switching the timer.

Soooo,

It isn't that I don't want a short timer even while at war, but rather that I suspect other teams will be reluctant to permanently shorten the timer.

Also, aren't we switching hosts soon?
