Game Set-up Poll 2 : Game Speed

I hope to move things along in the public forum this coming week so we can start team voting on certain game set-up issues over the next few weeks.

With this in mind, what do we, as a team, think about the desired turn speed for this game???

Please keep in mind that this poll should be strongly linked to your desired pitboss turn timer choice. i.e. If you want 96 hours for each turn and want a Marathon game speed then you may be drawing your pension before the game gets finished......... ;)

As a reminder :

Quick : 330 turns
Normal : 500 turns
Epic :750 turns
Marathon : 1500 turns

I voted Normal.

I'd love to play a longer game, but with my choice of 72 hours per turn we'd all be playing Virtual Reality Civ VI by the time we got round to finishing!!!! ;)

Normal with a 72 hour timer works out to a little over 4 years. Hopefully the game will get to the later stages, maybe a cultural victory?

I voted Epic, along with 48 hours. I don't want the units to go obsolete before they get there.

4 years is, in my opinion, a bit too long to keep continuous interest going. ;)
As on the obselete units issue, for the defensive player this is an advantage. As far as I know the general feeling of this team is to be on the defensive side? Further more, there's a solution for this 'problem': upgrade your assault army in the first city that's been taken.

Rob - it all depends on the turn timer.

We need to get that sorted first.

If we try to do anything else first - we will need to restart the discussions once the timer is sorted.

For example - if it is a 72 hour timer - I personally would go for Normal Speed.

If it is 48 hours - I would go for Epic.

I would go for normal either way. Epic is unsuitable for MP IMO. We don't want to drag this along indefinitely...
