I am guessing those are not really the types of things where you can get a replacement at Best Buy, right?

Quick, buy a new one off the manufacturer's website before your battery runs out!!!

But can I just go out and buy a new one somewhere?

I really don't want to have to wait for shipping.

Too bad HP doesn't have an outlet store here anymore.

Just connect a couple strips of copper wire from the outlit to your computer.

(You can probably use any other adapter from the same manufacturer, but check first that the voltage, etc. match.)

Actually I can't use just any adapter from the same manufacturer. Already tried and it didn't fit.

So, is this something I can just get at Best Buy?

:eek: don't do that! If you plug it one that doesn't match your laptop, odds are you'll fry the motherboard.

What happened is that I was packing in my room for college. I used my bathrobe as a thing to just carry a bunch of crap in. I think it fell out while I was carrying it down stairs.

I know that. I mean can I find one at best buy that works for my laptop.

@Apoc

Yep! You can buy universal power supply at Best Buy, Circuit City...

I bought one for the laptop of my friends. (Acer)

Here the website of the company;
http://www.igo.com/

They also have a lookup engine if you want to be sure they have the power adapter for your laptop model.

:nono: but be careful....

Mine shorted out and I had to replace it. A computer tech I'm friends with told me a replacement would cost about $40. The $40 "universal" adapter, which was universal only for cell phones. I had to go back and get the universal adapter that cost almost $100. :(

Did you leave it at a client's? I once had to phone up a place in Sunderland where I'd left it and ask them to post it to me. Generic replacements weren't an option, and a new one from the manufacturer was £40.

i had to replace mine and hp doesnt recomend the universal ones. They tend not to use the correct currents for laptops. U can order one and get one day shipping its more expensive but in the long run ur beter off with one desigend for ur pc. I think i paid 60 bucks for the cord and shipping and had it shipped overnight.

The manufacturer is often the best place especially if your warranty is still in effect so that they can't claim it was a third party power source which caused any problems.
