I am Donegeal, The Voice of Voxism (the leader of Vox Controlii).

This turn, our exploring warrior, who is named after our founding father, Jon Miller, has come across the borders of a glorious Banana city.

Let me introduce you to our people. We are a peace loving people as evidenced by our strong devotion to Voxism (Hinduism). Ishvara, or the supreme being (god if you will), comes in many faces: Brahman (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver) and Shiva (the Destroyer). Perhaps it would be easier to understand if we compared Voxism to the Banana. First there is the Banana tree (Brahman), the creator of the banana. Next is the banana peel (Vishnu), which is the “preserver” of the banana. And then there is the actual banana (Shiva). In trying to become a new banana tree, the banana is destroyed. Bananaism and Voxism are one and the same. We welcome our brothers of the faith!!!

The People of Vox try to live their lives in line with Vishnu, and preserve the normal tranquil beauty of this land. However, we see that you have already come across people who live by the Shiva doctrine, trying to destroy all. Stormians are Shaivaists. They wish nothing but the destruction of both of us.

When we first net the Stormians, we attempted to life peacefully with them and tried to coexist with them in a type of harmony as Ishvara would want. They wanted no part of this. At their first opportunity, Stormian warriors attacked and killed a harmless offenseless civilian Scout in neutral territory without warning. Since that first mindless slaughter of innocents, Stormia has waged war against our people for nearly 1,500 years, and have done so without explanation or communication, despite attempts to do so from our side.

Stormia has been eerily silent for the entire war. They even remained silent when they committed their most heinous crime about 300 years ago.

We had a band of girls that wanted to go out exploring the this wonderful world we are trying to preserve. Unfortunately for them, they came across Stormians. They fled to the north in an attempt to get away from their mindless destructive ways. On their way, they had the misfortune to come across a pack of wild lions at the same time the now well promoted and veteran Stormian warriors had caught up with them. The Stormians prodded the pack of lions to attack the defenseless little girls and them swooped in to gnaw of their remains. We are still awaiting word from Gathering Storm on this senseless slaughter of innocents (no battle report was given to us).

Outside of this event, Stormians have been unable to do us any harm because our people are true in their faith. Stormian Skirmishers are held in check throughout the land but they continue to press on our borders. They realize that the only way they can make an attack on The Voice that has any chance of success would be with what we call siege weapons. Watch for their actions. The will be making a play to get to this item and may even try to sway you to help them.

Be wary, people of the Bunch. There is evil in this land and we cannot contain it.

Looks like our die is cast. We are friends with AC and GS. We need to see what happens in the next few days with AC and GS.

Peace loving followers of Voxism, The Bananas are of peaceful existence as well.


It troubles our bunch to hear of such brutality all ready. We gathered into our smoke house for a session of blessed peel, to confirm the ways of Stormians. Upon checking the all knowing screenie, the truth is known thru our kingdom of the state of WAR. We thank you for the warning over Stormians ways.

We can do more together than apart.

We request a map of your lands with resources so we can rejoice throughout our lands, the peace is the one true way.


I have been asked to approach you on the issue of tech sharing and research goals.

Can it be as simple as a simple exchange of when techs are discovered ?
Why hassle with any other option.

Presently AC and Vox do not have contact, and so you are not permitted to discuss Vox with them unless/until you show them a screenshot containing Voxian lands (which you do not have at the moment) or a Voxian unit.

As you will see I have not mention Vox to AC or GS yet.

P'Rex and other followers of the Great Banana - whose name dare not be spoken - what are your thoughts on my questions?

I say, see what GS does with our Open Tech agreement first. Let the war - if it can be called that - continue. We are not involved yet and sticking our nose between GS and Vox can only hurt us.

That said, I do not see a problem with starting peaceful talks and trade with Vox.

now this is getting interesting ^^ a war situation between two other civs can only benefit us as long as one civilization isnt defeated entirely! let them rip themselves apart and let us emerge even more powerful from their struggle :) supply them with tech and maybe even units to keep the struggle going as long as possible. we may benefit greatly from this :)

I think this depends on what we want to do with AC/GS. P'Rex seemed to want to encourage Vox to keep up the fight. Where do we stand with GS? Did we ever actually agree to the grand 3 party tech trade thingy? I don't think so. AC and GS did not want to freely gift techs between our 3 nations. That non-signed agreement included the "no help to Vox" clause, and we have yet to actually trade with GS.

So, what does Vox offer? Can we get iron, gold, techs from Vox? Or do we simple anger the soon to be aggressive GS?

The way I see things at this point:
* AC is our long term ally. We should grow this relationship.
* GS is only talking with us to put us at ease until they attack us on a later date. This is good because we can't fight them now.
* Vox - what do they have to offer us? What do they need? How dire is their situation? Is it to the point that they need to send a settler & a defensive unit across our lands and hide from GS?
* AC's & GS' reluctance to sign the Tech Trade Treaty that unified our efforts to secure this continent while freely exchanging techs has led me to believe that we need another friend in this world. Vox MIGHT be that friend. I do not believe that GS will be a long term friend of the banana.

I agree. It was a bold move - maybe too bold and that is what got us bogged down on the diplo side. Maybe when things are stronger with AC we could try something between the 2 of us (AC & Banana).

Do we have a good enough relationship, and do we trust AC enough to suggest that maybe the three team alliance should be us AC and Vox? Whould AC send this straight to GS and screw us?

I think we should begin talking with AC about our relationship and test their faith in GS by suggesting that GS is what is holding us back from a tech agreement, and we two should go after a tech agreement with no Vox restrictions, leaving the treaty to be amendable to include other nations.

Hi their Platapus, With the successful conclusion of the first round of tech trades I've been asked by my team to return as Chief diplomat after several months of lurking. I've accepted and am looking to get in better touch with the players in Banana and GS. I see your ICQ is listed a '63' I didn't know they got that short. Well I'm 36404290 and requested authorization, please authorize me or if you prefer I have Yahoo and AIM accounts, both can be found on my profile. I would like to get in some chats at some point to discuss the next tech trade round.

Per the the TTT I'm Informing you of the trade conducted between Strom and Alpha Centauri as they were informed of our trades, GS received Iron Working in exchange for Masonry and Polytheism. We are now researching Monotheism in hopes of obtaining Judaism, which will likely be followed by Sailing and then Literature. If we can arrange something more beneficial this could all be changed. I believe Strom is working on Math and will finish it soon after which they plan to go for Construction. I'm not sure ware Banana interests and efforts are currently directed.

Vox Envoy,
The good people of Team Banana were recently attacked by the Alpha Centurians. There was never a hint of conflict between AC and Team Banana. Since the dawn of time we co-ordinated tech research, planned roads, and even asked for the Centurians input on the placement of our next city before they kidnapped our happy band of settlers armed only with banana flavored ice cream treats.

Team Banana has been a friend to Vox as well. We have tried to stop the war against Vox through our connections at Gathering Storm. Team Banana asks for your aide in this desperate time.

This aide could be an attack on AC, a city swap, what ever you can think of. We have little to repay you with now and we could come to terms or payment later.

We are going to GS as well to ask for their aide in this matter. We hope you know that now is the time to set aside your differences with the Stormians. If you and GS continue to weaken eachother and Team Banana is defeated you must know that the Alpha Centurians will target you next. Please remember that we thought we had a friend in Alpha Centuri right until they attacked.

In a way there is something to be sad about. If we were dealing with the North Koreans you could say we should have been strong and seen this coming but we are dealing with online 'friends' playing a glorified board game. Hopefully when you play a game you could take someone at their word. This game shows that the only 2 strategies that work are (1) lies backed up by (2) strength.
