Whoever is first to get the save may found the city on the spot where the settler is now. We need to discuss how we go:

We start with warriors until size 2, or a worker straight away?

What technology will we start?

Our first warrior has no name yet, and what direction should he go?

screenshots are in the "turn 1 thread"

My opinion: start with worker, research wheel (and then pottery), warrior in direction 9

what difficulty level is the game at?

Hmm... If it were me, I'd start with a warrior, but we've got 5 surplus production, and growing will only add 1 more... Besides, we start with agriculture so we could irrigate that rice immediately. So I'd say that we should probably go with a worker first.

As for the warrior, I'd move him 3...

Wheel -> Pottery also sounds good... But it'll leave the three early religions out...

I'm quite a fan of Confucianism, as it's in the path of techs I usually research (I usually trade for the 'religious' techs)

It shouldn't be too hard to get *some* religion:

We have 6 opponents, and there are 7 religions (two of which are on a dead end, Christianity and Islam). If one opponent gets multiple religions and is near us, we will get those religions and they will only get LoS to some cities. If our opponents do not pursue religion, we can obtain one at a lower cost than if we beelined for one. If we do not have a near neighbor, then we should have enough (uncontested) happy resources on our land to support cities of reasonable size, and the benefits of avoiding early war outweigh the losses of no religion. It's only if distant neighbors aggressively pursue religion and near neighbors do not that we come out short.

build a worker first
research : bronze working (chopping) or the wheel / pottery (cottages)

poll? I go for bronze as we have lots of hills around us and I'm hoping we get lucky. Also it seems that we get the rice quicker this way as the rice tiles looks forested.

nope, while testing with the worldbuilder, I get an identical screenshot if the rice is not forested. If the rice is forested, there are a lot more trees.

I don't think rice normally appears on forested tiles, though it can be under jungle.

ok, scratch that then. I'd normally say bronze working any way as it lets us chop rush, but with the new patch I don't know how effective it is.

Btw, how will we name our first warrior?

The bold goers
The Enterprisers
The Voyagers
Deep Scouts Nine
...
?

I say we try and avoid chops (exept perhaps one to speed the setler) until post-maths...

Ensign Garland?

("test tube" descendent of the late, great, mission commander, fittingly given the commission to restart civilzation onthe reborn Terran)

EDIT: Actually, being a 'troika" it's not so appropriate

screenshot of the world after city is built (I noticed the f*in screenshot-name box too late).

No real news, except we have a 1-tile island before our coast, mountains to the west and tundra to the north.

So, what do we need to decide:

=> what to research ?
=> what to build in first city ?
=> how to call our first city?
=> how to call our warrior ?
=> how to call our leader ?

Polls are up for the first 2 issues.

Warrior moved SE.
http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/3032/warriorse1vs.th.jpg (http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=warriorse1vs.jpg)
Found : 2*silk, tribal village.

For the next turns : should we move our warrior to the village (will lose 2 turns of exploration) or wait (untill we have a scout or untill our culture borders pop it or ...)

Anyway, if you are not presented with a tech choice, can't you just hold off the actual choice untill next turn ?

If culture borders pop a village, are the results those of when you pop it with a scout, or with a warrior?

Lacero

I spy some more plains hills for us to maybe fortify our cities on.

I think we should move East and then SE, towards the coast, and then move around the coast to explore.

Lets compromise

pop vilages then coast

Maniac

I'd say to pop the village first too. We aren't b-lining for scouts in the near future, and letting culture borders pop that goodie hut will take ages!

N35t0r

Yeah, pop it.
