I would like to start a PBEM for 3 players (including myself) on a pangaea, highlands, or great plains map. There would be 5 AI players on Noble level.
The title refers to everyone being on one land mass, and not to an alliance of any sort.

Player 1 - Marcus (Indians)
Player 2 -
player 3 -

I'm in GMT +9 and players from anywhere in the world are welcome as long as you are dependable.

In another thread it says I should start the game with one extra player and then kill it to avoid the trading bug in PBEM. This is irritating but unavoidable, I guess.

Sorry, pawnxing, I only need two other players besides myself. I'm sure there will be lots of other games you can join.

I'll get the game started soon.

havent had this problem yet but good all to avoid

Grandpa Troll,

Your save file arrived but was called "GrandpaTroll to GrandpaTroll (Date)" and it will not open. I get a 'failed uncompressed game data' error. Games from other people open normally. Could you try again? Thanks.

Thanks. Could you change my email address to euphrates at kornet dot net? It's convenient to keep all Civ4 saves at a seperate address to make saving and sending files convenient.

I'll check when I get home but my name is correct in other games. And I entered 'Masuro' when I set up the game. Still, I'll have a look.

Also, Civ4 saved the file to the wrong folder for some reason. Hmmm.....

I tried changing the folder name to something easily associated with the particular game I am in but it would simply create a new folder

Grandpa Troll's save still comes as a funny name but at least it opens. Also, I changed my name to Masuro from PC.

I downloaded Eudora yesterday and started to use it as my Civ email program (since I can't send from in the game. :( ). When you click on the save file in Eudora it automatically runs the game for you! Just click to skip the opening movie and it will load the game for you. Very convenient. Very nice.

The turn still comes with a funny file name and for some reason my name was changed back to PC. Can you check that when you play the save again?

Since we are still at the beginning of the game, how about restarting so I can fix the folder/game name problem? I think it will cause some confusion later . . .

The file you sent ends in a '1' and can't be opened in Civ. Any idea why your game would save it with such a name?

here is a screenshot of the save, the save i sent and neither has a "1" after it

just asking, did you have a save in you foilder and it renamed a "1" by chance?

I also tried and it opened fine with me

Semantics... that's all it is, it is a known bug, but does not affect gameply... just style, not substance. The game must go on ;)
