Team 2: AI (Random), AI (Random)
Team 3: AI (Random), AI (Random)
Team 4: AI (Random), AI (Random)
Difficulty: Noble
Map: Terra
Size: Normal
Speed: Quick
Starting Age: Ancient
Our starting location is very nice. Right on the coast, with fish immediately available, and cows and wheat when the borders expand first, which won't take too long. :)
<img src=http://apolyton.net/upload/thumb.php?x=600&file=12160_Civ4ScreenShot0006.JPG> (http://apolyton.net/upload/view.php?file=12160_Civ4ScreenShot0006.JPG)
We already have fishing and agriculture, so two of the health resources are immediately available. So, we started research on the wheel so we can connect these up with our other cities, and our ally. :)
Save on to Mr. Troll. :)

Yes, sir. Won't disappoint, sir. :) I actually thought of making this sort of all story-like, so it would actually not be boring to read for people. :)
There isn't much to see now though, a couple turns in, stuff looks much the same as it did in the screenshot in the original post, just a little more explored area. :)

:hmmm: That's odd, indeed.
It looks like we are about to invent the wheel, now that our friends the Inca are ready to sit down and scratch their heads real hard, too. :)
What shall our next target be? I think maybe we should try for a religion?
Next turn to you, Mr. Troll.
Grandpa Troll
November 1, 2005, 19:35
I can still do the old ctrl + c and then alt tab and save to my psp7
In game, I switched from writing to meditation as you have writing so we can switch tech back and forth
no sense us both accomplishing same goal:b:

And off to you now, Mr. Troll. :)
In the mean time, our warriors have found more cows and are now heading into a big old desert to the north of our settlement in hopes of discovering incense and other goods :)

turn back my friend
soon you and I wil meet:b:
vovan
November 1, 2005, 20:06
Well, we share tech, so whatever you have, I have, even without alphabet, which I believe is what we would need to trade with the AIs.
We have finally figured out how to use the fancy round things to make transportation faster. :b: The next order of business is trying to tame the wild horned beasts roaming outside both our great capitals.
Vovan
Grandpa Troll
November 1, 2005, 20:14

:hmmm: Looks like it's the Romans we will be meeting, and it looks also like they have just beat us to Buddhism. :) Why don't we both go for Polytheism now to ensure we get at least some religion on our side? :)

November 1, 2005, 20:51

I was going to switch to worker as soon as I hit population 3. :)
In the mean time, would you like to switch to polytheism real quick, so we can get the benefit of shared research and knock out a religion tech? :)
In other news, I met Hatshepsut, who is apparently in an alliance with Frederick of the Germans. :)

November 2, 2005, 14:37
Kicked some lion ass and discovered gold. :):b: The gold is real close to Rome though, so I'm not sure we could get our grubby hands on it... Depends on where Rome decides to plop down the first colony, I guess.
Off to you, Seņor Troll.
Grandpa Troll
November 2, 2005, 18:54
2 turns to Poly
off and exploring to the northwests
the northern land of Rome is ICE..brrrrr
vovan
November 2, 2005, 19:49

turn on:b:
vovan
November 3, 2005, 17:32
I believe you should have the tech also, yes. You could switch to Hinduism as your state religion, however, I don't know if that would be beneficial right now. Later on, when I get to build a Hindu shrine, then every city with Hinduism will bring in more $$, so it might be a good idea to have us both set to the same religion. As for now, it only affects relationships with other civs (so Rome would think bad of you if you switch to Hinduism, and others don't care, as they don't have any religion yet at all.)

Animal Husbandry at the end of next turn. Also, starting to farm some of that wheat. :)
Grandpa Troll
November 3, 2005, 21:28
I too am farming as well
Cattle tile and more food to help grow with another farm
vovan
November 3, 2005, 21:40
Got Animal Husbandry, so you can get that cattle now. :) Also found a prime site for the next city, I think. Will post a screenie next turn maybe when I explore it a little more. :)

November 3, 2005, 21:59
Great
Not growing as fast as you but will do better as time goes onward:b:
vovan
November 3, 2005, 22:08
Now researching mining. Useful to get some more hammers going, also tp make use of the marble and stone we have to help along with the wonders, and of course, it is one of the techs on the path to ocean sailing which we need to get our grubby hands on first, so we could get a choice piece of the new world later on. :)
Grandpa Troll
November 3, 2005, 22:15
excellent
vovan
November 3, 2005, 22:23
As the wheat farm is finished, boosting the food production of Washington, there is sad news: the band of our brave explorer warriors was not heard from since the previous turns. A pack of lions in the hills south of Rome is suspected of murdering every last one of them. :crook:

vovan
November 5, 2005, 13:28
And the settler is off to expand our empire. :) Research has also started on Sailing. (Oh and also: Caesar adopts slavery, so he already has bronze working. Looks like he can't wait for Praetorians. :cute: )

November 5, 2005, 13:56

vovan
November 5, 2005, 14:00
Hopefully I'll be able to snatch those horses with my second city, that would certainly strengthen our military. :)
Grandpa Troll
November 5, 2005, 14:06

vovan
November 5, 2005, 15:56
Ooh. You might want to build the stonehenge then, to get culture and make sure your city doesn't flip. I was going to go for it (only 9 turns till completion, and plus, I am about to get my hands on Stone, which would cut it down even further), but I can let you have it, if you want.

should takle a lot to take and hold that city:hmmm:
vovan
November 5, 2005, 18:09
And it's located on a hill. :hmmm:
You see these Germans up here, right next to my settler? Yeah, they got beat to it. :cute: (Glad I took the risk and sent the settler out unprotected, else it'd be slowed down by the warrior and surely wouldn't make it in time...)
Grandpa Troll

Well, just an update on our little religious endeavor. :) The missionary will be completed at the end of the next turn, and Writing will be researched the turn after that. It is at that point that we will be converting the Greeks to the true ways, and hopefully they will switch they state religion and do their share of promoting Hinduism throughout the world. It would be very helpful to have them at least somewhat friendly towards us, in our imminent struggle against the Romans.
Grandpa Troll
November 5, 2005, 18:46
you wont like this:scared:
vovan
November 5, 2005, 18:53
Hehe, ah, well, plenty of time still to beat them. ;) Plus, as soon as we figure out the whole alphabet bit, we can trade techs, for an even better advantage.
I think that's all for me for the night. Time to go watch the Thrashers get beat by the Flyers. :cute:

Well, my missionary is on the Greek borders, and writing is discovered. All is set for some religious conversion. :)
I have also discovered where Hatshepsut is. Maybe we could show her the true ways, too, though she is a little far off.
Also, in the interests of not being the last Civ in knowledge, we have undertaken the project of building an Oracle, which will give us a free tech. :) This will be completed in 5 turns.

It looks like Alexander doesn't want to sign open borders... (-1 Close borders spark tension). However, since he is not close to you, Mr. Troll, could you see if he would like to sign open borders with you? That way, I can still get my missionarey into his lands.

November 7, 2005, 15:42
Hmh, looks like Judaism has spread on its own from Frederick to Alexander, so Alex has just switched. We shall try to get to Hatshepsut before it's too late, but if that fails then we shall spam Alexander with missionaries in hopes that he will convert to the true religion if more of his cities belong to it.
In other news, we have precisely zero luxury goods on our land that we can use and as a consequence, Washington's people are unhappy. I suppose we need calendar so that we could get our hands on that incense.

November 7, 2005, 21:18
Well, I was wondering if you tried signing the open borders with him. :) He doesn't like me because I am too close, but that wouldn't be the case for you. Now that he's adopted a new religion, however, it looks like neither of us would be able to make him open up borders, though, so I'm going to see if I can do anything about Hatshepsut. :)

We have been informed that wonder effects are shared between allies. As a result, we resumed production on the Stonehenge, which will be finished in two turns. We do need calendar ASAP to connect that luxury resource, as both Washington and New York have hit their 'happy limit', but it is clear we won't get it for at least ten turns, so in that time, all of your new cities will have the time to expand the border at least once. :b: That will bosst our score substantially and give your cities more land to work with. :)

And there's the new city. It's got a weird location though, why didn't they put it on the coast? :hmmm: If we are ever at war and take that city, I'm afraid it'd have to be razed. In other news, we see Hatshepsut is sending out a settler party into the northern icelands, too.

Apparently Hatty and Fred already have Alphabet. Traded Horseback riding to them for Mathematics, and ooh, what's this? We are first in score. :D
Also, now that Washington borders stretch wide across the waters to the south, we notice a pleasant island with clams near it. We think we shall send our settler there and claim it. :cute: (I think we can easily afford another city: running 100% research with surplus, all thanks to Hinduism income and trade routes with Egypt.)

Not if they are Quechuas.
We are about to get construction, which will give us the much-needed catapults. :b: Also, if we were to attack, we'd need a bit of time to prepare. At the moment, you only have Quechuas, so Romans would roll over you with their Praetorians in no time flat. :cute: Notice this new city in the south has four archers defending it. I would imagine core cities (like the one next to the iron) would be even more substantially protected. Greeks are even better protected still. At the moment, I don't think we can take on anybody. The only way we could wage war, I would imagine, is if we were to get Fred and Hattie on our side, and that can only happen, I think if she finally decides to switch to Hinduism (which I am going to help out by converting her final city to Hindu).

Also, founded Philadelphia on the island below near some clams. There's some major food and commerce there, but barely any production, so I figure that will be one of our research centers down the read. :cute:

Yeah... I think we should concentrate on grabbing some choice locations in the new world and that should hopefully provide us with more resources. Greeks, for example, have their closest city protected by an archer, two axemen, and two swordsmen. Without copper or iron units, we stand no chance against these defenses.

Please direct your attention to the position of our galley (East of Philadelphia). Note that it is just by a nice juicy city location that contains a fish and two clam resources. I was going to settle that location, but you don't have either resource (and I already have both), so if you would like, I can leave that island for you to colonize to get some health. Else, I will grab it myself and trade resources to the AIs. (Pity I can't send them your way...)

Freddy comes with an offer we can't resist. :( He wants us to convert to their religion. I'm afraid if we don't we can be attacked by the other two nations as well, and then we are as good as toast. However, if we do, there is a chance they might fight on our side. Tough decision... I'm still thinking. :)
vovan
November 19, 2005, 11:46
After much consideration, we refuse. We can't afford a trun of lost unit production at this point.
Much to our suriprise, Boston is still up and running. The archer has defeated their swordsman, taking 66% losses, and the horseman has defeated the war elephant. However, you can see Alex has brough some reinforcements with him. :( There is no way Boston can survive another turn. Things look better in New York, however. We will definitely get to keep that one. :b:

Turn complete. If only Alex was conservative and didn't attack Boston this turn, reinforcements would arrive next turn. :( BTW, you will notice we are researching Monarchy, and have Feudalism qued up after that. I would suggest that it might be a very good idea to switch to that research ASAP for you as well. Longbowmen would really save our necks, especially for you, as you can't build any other worthwhile units without iron, copper, or horses.
