"Virtual Worms" turn tracking thread

This is the turn tracking thread for the PBEM "Virtual Worms".

Premise for the game: Factions tend towards what they do best. Once Planetfall was made, the Spartans started doing what they do best, the Hive is doing what it does best, the Morganites are doing what they do best, and the Worms are doing what they do best (feasting on everyone's brains! :evilgrin: ), so you better practice on some "Virtual Worms" as soon as you get the chance! ;)

This is a slightly mod'd game in that the AI's have been slightly built up, and Probe Cruisers have been added to the game so that the AI will build them. Also, all human players start with 3 scouts, 2 rover CP's, and one regular CP.

Our first base was established on northern slope of a mountain which was named Central Peak 2974 meters a.s.l.

West to the base colonists dispatched to establish new settlements discovered a mysterious building of unknown origin. It appears that it is certainly not an installation from "Unity", but creation of an alien race! The building is commonly refered as "The Tower".

Our eastern colonist unit reports observation of large terrain parts covered with pink in color plants. They have not investigated it yet.

Western colonist unit encountered also an alien life forms. It promptly withdrew to the east. Whether aliens are intelligent or not and if they are creators of The Tower remains yet to be determined.

Excellent farming country around the landing site led to foundation of our first base! It will soon grow to be energy rich, thanks to the surrounding hydropower!
Mysterious Pod Found and Investigated
Recently located to the east of the newly established Alpha Prime was a pod, apparently from the Unity 'seeding'. What the scout team found inside is unknown at the moment, because security is very tight!

The People that assembled under the name "Cult of the Planet" founded their first base in the year 2101 and called it "Grorons Planet" to honor their humble leader.
In the same year, cult scouts discovered a mysterious monolith. A small unit entered it and returned with skills that they could not find anywhere else.

Alien life form to the west from Data DeCentral approached The Tower building. Scouting unit in attempt to investigate it further was surprised by peculiar sensation of fear and horror. Investigation is underway, but it appears that the alien life forms have mental abilities.

Our western colonist unit reported again observation of alien life forms when exploring a "Unity" supply pod landing site. It is likely these aliens are a common occurance. None of the attempted contact was succesful. Alien life form is apparently an animal, not a sentient species.

Pods Popped

The courageous scouts of the Cybernetic Counciousness have opened and activated a survey pod. Scattered from the Unity, the pod released chemicals that helped nutrients in the area to proliferate.

Native Life Sited!

After several sitings and encounters with the native fauna of the planet, native life has been discovered. A pod popped revealed several of the strange worm-like creatures out. The creatures attacked the heroic scouts, who easily overcame the worms.

Ouro, stockpile bug allows you to gain extra energy when inserted "stockpile energy" into building queue after a unit. Official rules prohibit this. I know sometimes players volutarily resign from this rule, that is why I'm asking.

My vote though goes to - not using this bug.

In recent maneuvers, a scouting patrol out of Alpha Prime was exploring a river when it stumbled upon a partially submerged pod. Investigating, they opened it to discover.... a machine that appears to be a mobile databank. While not currently in exsistence, facilities to handle it and other network things will be constructed in the coming years at Alpha Prime.

Once again, the worm-like creatures have emerged. After three severe encounters, scientists have labeled them mind-worms, due to their strange effects on the mind. Once again, in what appears to be their native habitat, the fungus, our scouts defended and beat back the aliens.

Strange Findings Around Pods
In another case of exploration, our fine scouts were carefully examining a pod, to find a strange mechanism that activated, apparently trigged by life force. The mechanism duplicated the scout team, making another, but with vacant memories, but all the skills of the previous one! This phenomona will be further investigated in the years to come!

Alternate Vectors?

Yet another decade has passed..
I'd say quite eventful. We found more evidence about ancient race on this planet which has somehow made itself extinct..
Seemingly by war as we found a hi-tech robot floating in the sea which is so adaptive that already has learned our language and our tactics and can act as an army on itself. The robots' dimensions are also awesome - with a single step of his gigantic foot he can knock dead hundreds of warriors as insects. Sadly the technology cannot be retro-engineered as it is too advanced for us to understand and there are also some sightings that it is somehow "encoded" so that noone can decipher it and use on his warfare.
The other two wonders were not so difficult to understand - one of them we linked to our network node, so people could examinate it and express their thoughts. And it was so awesome that we developed one very useful technology entirely from those ideas!
Those large towers found in our territory give us significant amount of resources and strenghten our soldiers but the only thing we could discover about them (and which is quite obvious) that they somehow strenghten the mental powers and also the life force of surrounding beings..

And it still appears we're not alone on this planet - we have picked up scrambled signals telling about existance of "Morganite" faction. Somehow it reminds me of that Nwabudike Morgan..

Seems the humanity is going to survive after all..

This has been approven also by our amateur radiomen - they've received multiple transmissions from human factions called "The Human Hive", "The Spartan Federation" and "CEO Morgan".
They're not really sure if the last one really represent a faction as it's name seems more likely to be just a name of one person, but it's clear that this person, which reminds me of Nwabudike Morgan, has been doing quite impressive work, as he is now able to build a Secret Project in 2 bases. We can't afford doing it even in a single base..

The other two appear to be quite powerful, and also quite militaristic groups, given their names.
Let's hope for the best and fear them not!

All Efforts To build HGP!

After years of debates between Provost binTravkin and opposition it was decided not to attempt building a secret project named Human Genome Project.
The construction of such a huge project would take every last resource of University Of Planet!
However, recently our provost came up with a brilliant idea to use our alien unit calling itself "Battle Ogre Mk1" for the core of project building.
Unit had seen military action and had been damaged and as we had no means to repair such a high tech unit, it had been relieved from military action.
The construction of the HGP started with binTravkin himself ordering the unit to stand ground in the city of Academgorodok and "never move again".
Unit of course obeyed it's orders and there the construction begun...
Battle Ogres' body made an excellent arc on which and around which to build the huge building of HGP.
As unit has been made of hyperdense and hyperstrong materials,it has been no problem for it to hold the building "on its shoulders".
Some of our fellow scientists even estimate that Ogres' powerful legs could hold 3 or 4 times more weight.
Now it is a great sight to watch - a titan with our little genetic world on it's shoulders!

Yesterday for the first time from the planetfall contact with other faction has been made. A Morganic scouting party has been noticed near the border of our territory coming down a mountain range. They provided us with the commlink to CEO Morgan and contact with the leader of Morgan Industries was made.
Unexpected accident of a former team
Also the Department of Infrastructure released recently some classified so far information regarding a strange accident within our territory. A terraforming team has been ordered two years ago to investigate a site reprted as place of landing of one of the starship "Unity" supply pods. However, when approached, it became apparent that suspected supply pod turned out to be an alien device, which must have been triggered by proximity of the terraforming team. As the result, the team was teleported to another location. After long investigation this information was declassified and could be brought to you.

Well, I did not know about elections either. So why should I have posted it? It would only be a (possible) benefit for the other factions, would not it?

The player in which turn the elections start whether called by him or an AI, should post it along with the vote counts and current standings in the thread.

He should also hold the turn for as long as diplomacy between him and any other player is resolved.

Now for example, I can't do any negotiations about your vote and this is only bad to yourself as other faction (if any) will be recieving a payment for voting for me in council.

It's not posted anywhere, but it's the basic etiquette.
