One time my girlfriend (now an ex) and I had an arguement and frustrated at her stubborness I emailed her an email about how I felt.

She didn't get it until few months later ruining the good phase we were experiencing at that time. Also she was so upset and everything, she thought I wrote it recently. I was so stunned about it myself and I noticed the date....

Anyway, enough of my story and time to play your turn, Geo! ;)

2168 to the Pirate.

The University of Planet requests information as to HOW the atlantean scout patrol was able to reach its current position! Has Queen Enid warped planetary physics? Perhaps counsellor Geo can explain?

Oh, and Lady Deirdre has broadcast a message saying the Planetary Transit System is almost complete...

(private addendum to Queen Enid: Have you forgotten the native specimen promised so many years ago?)

GeoModder
August 19, 2004, 09:12
The Royal Research Department has, after an indept investigation, offered the following explanation for the incident:
'After many years of research on interdimensional gateways a research team has discovered a way to calibrate a dimensional rift in resonance with some specific materials. Experiments with these techniques created a feedback proces on volunteers assigned to the project. The result was, as calculated, a disappearance to another dimension, but the reappearance is appearantly uncontrollable with current technology and caused the subjects to appear way of their designated arrival point. Nevertheless, futher research in this department will assuredly have full success in another 50-75 Mission Years according to our prognostics.'
The Kingdom apologizes for the inconvenience (if any) and assures that the scout will be retrieved by more conventional ways ASAP as to avoid interdimensional damage to the possessions of the University. We trust no damage was done during the rift transition?

As on the private addendum: our Queen points out that an investigation of our archives learned that the conditions for such a transfer were never finished, nor concluded in detail.

Dear members of the Planetary Council, today I wish to bring on the table a proposal to relax
our import -and export taxes implemented on trading goods. The net result will, according
to my economic advisor, be a double commerce rate for ALL our factions IF we all
implement the same taxation rate.

The Kingdom, being the forebringer of the proposal, votes YEA.
How do yea vote, Mr. Yang?

The Human Hive votes YEA to this proposal.

My Lady, what is the word from your faction?

The Gaians do not agree to unrestricted trade whatsoever, NAY it is!!

I see. And how is the stance of the U.N. on this matter, Brother Lal?

The U.N. follows the reasoning of the Gaians in this, NAY thus.

Very well, two votes in favor, two against sofar. Dr. Rubin, how does the University of Planet
wish to vote on this matter?

The vote question of MY 2168 is sended.

Turn to the Kingdom.

The Spot, MY 2174

It would seem that the Planet have their own version of the anicent Earth legendary Loch Ness monster or perhaps the mighty Leviathan. Aeolus thought to himself as he surveyed the latest report on the brutal decimation of the garrsion at Coder's Pit. Holographic images did not spare any horrifying details as they displayed how a large creature slithered out of the inland water body and ripped through the defensive measures established there. The garrsion troops fought bravely but in the end they were slaugthered.

Already people are talking about a monster lurking in the inland sea and a name has emerged for the said creature - Sealurk. If the Angels are to be able to ulitize the great lake, this Sealurk will have to be hunted down and exterminated.

As he dispatched an order to train a new body of garrsion troops to man the base, he found himself hoping that there were not more of those out there but on the Planet you just never know...

Year 2174 has found it's way into Rubins' datalinks. :)

On a sidenote, Sankis, how long was your current secret project already under construction? 't Is the first turn I noticed it...

Also:

The Royal Scouting Corps reports an increased rate of native encounters. Researchers start mulling about the fact that some SE choices seem to increase this and that the Royal Scouting Corps better withdraws from certain areas of Planet. It is rumoured that an indept study regarding ecological damage is ordered by the Palace...

Address to the Council, MY 2175:

After 75 Planetyears of relative peace on Planet it has come
to my attention that the Human Hive, under leadership of former
Executive Officer Sheng-si Yang has choosen to declare Vendetta
on the Data Angels under leadership of former Fusion Engineer Aeolus.

This event is a tragedy in the opinion of the Planetary Governor.

An attempt to negotiate a diplomatic solution with Chairman Yang
has failed, the Chairman wishes not to respond to urgent calls.

The Planetary Governor wishes to ask to DataJack Aeolus if he
would care to shed more light to the events which led to this
declaration of war between two factions, so attempts to intervene
one way or the other could be determined.

Barinthus
September 20, 2004, 23:11
Dear my fellow council members, out of us, the Chairman has always been one of most reluctant to cooperate and even you all cannot deny his xenophobic behavior.

He has been hostile especially toward my people which shares his borders. For decades now the Angels has been living in quiet fear of the subterrean menace in the West. In the past he has extorted our hard-earned knowledge from us. His military has openly violated our terriortial intergity and we have been afraid to call upon him to remove his troops in risk of enraging him.

Instead, our scouts has been quietly following and observing his men exploring alien boreholes near our base of Alphaville. It was long feared by our leaders that he desired the prime estate of those boreholes well knowing that we are incapable of defending those.

When after nearly 15 years, his troops went east to explore to see whether if there are more alien structures out there or not, we took measures to ensure that he cannot return to the Boreholes without our knowledge.

In the same year we discovered a new knowledge that the Human Hive does not have, they established a new base east of Fellowship bringing their borders closer to the Boreholes. This base is named Seat of Proper Thought by them. Soon afterward, the Human Hive demanded that we turn over our newly researched secrets of Centurai Mediation.

Tired and fed up by living in the Hive's shadow, we refused to turn over the knowledge without trading for something in exchange.

Hence the Vendetta! His unit has attacked one of our rover units, forcing it to retreat where it could be destroyed by a random wandering mindworm.

His silence should speak volumes here!

However we do not wish to have this incident destroy the decades of Peace we have been experiencing. I know your people don't and mine doesn't either. I hope the Council will see it fit to try to engage the Chairman and solve this tragedy pleacefully.

Meanwhile we the Data Angels do reserve the right to defend ourselves.

We submit ourselves to the wisdom of the Council.

(Governator, your turn now ;) )

Chiron, M.Y. 2179

A patrol trooper stands among pink and pulsating xenofungus scanning the horizon. As his eyes went over the Western direction, they momentarily pause...

A security sentinel in a probe unit, seated at his station, is lost into the logical and structured yet chaotic world of the Net yet a voice is there in his consciousness reminding him...

A vicious drone with a great deal of anger and no hestiency in expressing them lumbered down a corridor. Bumping into some one who suddenly emerged from an intersecting corridor startled him which furied him. Seeing that the other person was one of those spoiled Talents did not help at all. He was about to become aggressive when a thought crossed his mind, calming him....

All of their thoughts went out to the West to the terrible threat about to emerge and swallow them all.

Some wonder will their pact brothers come to their aid?

With sunspots flaring severing their connections with the Council, they never felt so isolated. Certain high ranking officers voiced their concerns about Chairman Yang's pactmate which lies to their southwest. The Nautilus Pirates and Data Angels have had pretty much left each other alone despite their pacthood with the Human Hive and it was hoped that they will stay out of the conflict. Nevertheless they must stand guard and watch.

Everyone are uneasy but continues on their daily routinues. They must. For they all are Data Angels. One people, one faction. They only have each other to depend on now. If the West do arise and threaten them, they will face it together for they are the Angels.

Geo, your turn :)

GeoModder
September 27, 2004, 08:57
The Atlantean Government, chaired by Queen Elevea, was together in a closed meeting. Rumours went that conversation was quite turbulent.

'Your Highness, we simply cannot spare the production power for this "military upbuild" my colleague endorses', shouted the Minister of Economic Affairs.
'So what,' shot the Minister of Military Affairs back. 'They're our allies for as far as we can remember, then let us show to the rest of Planet what we mean by being "allied". It's not a matter of economy here, it's a matter of to honor our agreements!!
'But what about the resources necessary for our pending expansion then?', asked the Minister of Social Affairs. 'Must we simply sent them on land to take their chances at Yang's horrors? Or even worse to Lal's manipulations? For Planet's sake, our people deserve better then this! They're our first and utmost responsability!!'
And the Minister of External Affairs, wanting to put his say on the table as well interrupted with: 'How good does it do us sending aid when the Hive learns all about them the minute we sent them through their long-standing ally, the University. We cannot rely upon the flare situation to hide our efforts if necessary.'

There were quite a few other voices, debates went bitter and the assembled press, backed by the population at large, went unpatient with the undecision showed in these 'closed session' meetings.

After some days of furious gathering, a news bulletin was released by the Prime Minister:

'People of Atlantis, I come here today to announce dire times. The Government, backed by the Queen, has decided to fulfill ALL of it's responsabilities, internal and external alike, thrown to it at this crucial time for our nation. Your homes will be safe, your employment will be assured, and our agreements with our neighbours will be honored, not only by the letter but by the spirit as well.' The PM whiped his forehead with a nappie before continuing, the first time in all of his career someone saw him doing this. 'May fortune be with us on this endeavour, and continue to smile upon us as it did for the last two generations.'

The PM turned and disappeared. People were a bit confused since these sorts of announcements were usually made by the Queen herself. The press, nosing around, discovered that she had already left for New Atlantis, were also rumours came that the almost forgotten HQ section was being made ready for action again...

Yeah. I didn't want to but had to since former landlord was a shyster and simply cannot be trusted at all. I have no back-up options here so if I was to suddenly find myself without a place to live and it's not easy finding an alterative with affordable rent I'd have to move out back to the East Coast.

Anyway am trying to set up DSL tonight and I promise if successful, PBEMs will get played first :)

Of course, nobody listens to me. *sigh* I know, not again, Barinthus! I warned my roommate if he was to install Sorsenson videophone thing while using Linksys wireless network, everything will get mucked up and indeed it did. Now I don't have internet access at least not until Sunday when he goes out to buy Hlink (or something like that) which is compatiable with Sorsenson.

Note: The above was a copy and paste from few days ago. Roommate is supposed to get a new wireless router today. Fingers crossed.

Of course not!
Last ACDG some people joined when the game was in full progress, and a short while later they were already up to date and among the most active participants of the whole faction.
Also everybody has by now met a few other factions, so things are just starting to get interesting after a long period of isolation, with policies still forming.
So if you want to join, just pick a faction, when authorized have a look at the most recent save and ask people a summary of what's happening at the moment. From there on you can start contributing to discussions yourself.

Congratulations! You've succeeded!

Turn passed to Barinthus.
I totally forget what i had planned before the break. I really should have wrote it down! ;) All I know are things arn't looking good..
===========================================

"BREAKING NEWS: After two long decades, communication is once again possible! Yes, the sunspot has finally ended."

"In other news, Nautilus Officals today announce the loss of Barbary Coat to the treacharous 'Peacekeepers' led by a one Pravin Lal. This move comes as a complete suprise to government officials who report they had maintaned stable relations with the Peacekeepers since planetfall. Officals state that action is planned within the near future to regain the city."

"On the Gaian front, however, there is better news. Nautilus Spies have managed to break into a coastal research facility and procure several technologies, and the coastal bombardment continues"

"For Nautilus 6 News I am Jack Buford. Goodnight!"

Captain Sankis, the beloved ruler of the Nautilus Pirates, rises from his chair and turns to his advisor and second in command, Cecil Lorn.

"Why was I not informed of the loss of Barbary Coast, Lorn?"

Cecil stutters a moment, then continues to speak. "W-we did not feel it was worth mentioning, sir, as you were preoccupied on the Gaian front"

"What is this move you plan, Lorn? An Attack, yes?"

"Well, sir, to be truthful we have no available craft to assault the city. As you know, we have not maintained a navy for several decades. It is only now, in time of war, that we do so. However, we plan to send a probe. Not just any probe, however, this one has proved his worth in the last few years and has been promoted to 'elite' status"

"You plan to brainwash our citizens back?"

"Yes, sir, as that is what we believe they have done to us"

"Then do so. However, if this move fails I wish the city destroyed. I will not tolerate a Peacekeeper Naval Base in our waters. What of our allies, the Hive, will they be of any assistance?"

"No sir, reports indicate they are in a land war with the Data Angels. "

"This is not good, Lorn. We are in a state of war with two factions that greatly overpower us. I want all production changed to wartime. We must prevail, no matter what."

Cecil nods and walks out of the Captain's chambers.

"3...2...1.... now!" Talent Toole shouted from his platform at the newly constructed Command Center at the Spot.

Aeolus stood and listened intently. Then radio transmissions from all parts of the Planet began to trickle in and slowly became a flood of assorted information babbling into the air.

"Aeolus! There is a transmission from the Chairman of the Hive waiting," a techanian reported.

"Put it on the screen." Perhaps it was a offer for a ceasefire or something to put stop to this mindless stalemate that has raged for a decade?

Yang's face filled the screen and his words he spoke did not bode well for the Angels.... "It will be a pleasure to wipe your faction off the Planet!"

Royal Broadcasting Company - Neagh Trench, MY 2191

With regret announces the Kingdom's government a state of Vendetta against the Human Hive led by Chairman Yang as at 2191.2901. The Human Hive has with this action brought the path of violence to all factions on this Planet, and the Kingdom is determined to bring the error of his choice to the Chairman in an as short as possible time.

In other news, rumours are that with the ending of the longlasting solar flares of the previous two decades a flurry of diplomatic activity is once again blooming. More news on that later on!

Military Command announces the construction of a purpose built Air Academy for the newly created Royal Air Force.

2192 sent to the Captain.

A brief report:

Hivean diplomats report the seizure of Newer Ciba City! This is a tragic event and University officials have planned a meeting with the Chairman during M.Y. 2192. Doctor Rubin condemns the invasion and hopes for a peaceful solution--however, by M.Y. 2193 the University may be at war with the Human Hive and actively support Datajack Aeolus' attempts to repel the hivean invasion.

Following the end of sunspot activity diplomatic affairs have resumed. To this, Doctor Rubin convened the council with the proposal to elect a new Planetary Governor. The candidates are Brother Lal and Doctor Rubin. Preliminary vote counts are as follows:

Captain Sankis: 32 votes (undecided)
Datajack Aeolus: 25 votes (undecided)
Doctor Rubin: 103 votes cast for Doctor Rubin
Queen Elevea: 84 votes (undecided)
Lady Deirdre: 62 votes, abstained
Brother Lal: 100 votes cast for Brother Lal
Chairman Yang: 62 votes cast for Doctor Rubin.

Should Doctor Rubin win the elections and the Chairman refuse to return Newer Ciba City to Data Angel control and end the war, the first political action would be an official University offensive against the Human Hive.

Cast your votes!

Newsflash

Military HQ announces the first open hostilities since the formal war decleration of our government against the government of the Human Hive. The Hiverian coastal base Great Collective's garrison has been obliterated by the first regiment of the Royal Marines, successfully eliminating the production and threat to our nearest bases in the area. Furthermore there was an partial successfull bombardment of the Hiverian capital, The Hive. Our old coastal cutter succeeded in damaging a Plasma Missile Cutter severely enough to keep it in port for the next few years.

Today, the Queen was present at the opening of the latest Secret Project, namely the Cloudbase Academy. The Royal Air Force is expected to deliver the first batch of well-trained pilots next year. If production schedules are maintained their craft will be ready by then as well.

This message just came in from our reporter at the Planetary Council: Provoost Rubin of the University of Planet has been elected as the new Planetary Governor with an overwhelming majority against his opponent, Brother Lal of the Peacekeepers. Rumours say the Queen has privately wished the Provoost well for his tenancy of the Governor's Seat and assured any help in making Planet a peacefull place again.

There is a massive column of Hive military units heading for my northwestern bases. A military intervention by the Governor would be very helpful right now or those bases along with their boreholes will be lost to the Human Hive.

Their production potential would be of a significant boost to the Hive war machine.

Royal Broadcasting Network, Wicklow Cave - MY 2195.1802

Military Command reports successes in the ground war near
and around Alphaville. An Hiverian offensive has been severely
attacked and might retreat in the near future if Data Angel
defenses prove strong enough. Our boys far from home are
celebrated as heroes by the local DataJacks.

A RAF chopper escadron has been reported missing in action,
last spotty transmissions from the escadron indicate a new
Hiverian tactic, which after an investigation will be possible
to be countered by adapting the training of future pilotes in
the Cloudbase Academy.

This just came in, Sea trawlers have reported an unmarked
cruiser travelling in our territorial waters on coordinates 8,52.
Naval Command requests that whatever faction responsible
for this vessel redraws it before 'accidents' will happen.

Footage from the battlefield around Alphaville and the unknown
cruiser are included in this broadcast.

University Inter-Factional Broadcast:

Atlantean diplomatic and political nonsense continue to endanger the planetary factional safety programs. Providing a pact mate's enemy with superior military technology is considered an indirect hostile action and attempting to bluffing peaceful intentions by agreeing to sign a pact. Several skirmishes occured between our forces on the continent

The Eye Network - MY 2197.2302

Despite the valiant defense of the northwestern sector by the forces under the command of General Antwone Hawkes and the Atlantean Expeditionary Forces over last several years, Alphaville and Secret Hollow in the Borehole Cluster region has fell to the Hivean menace. There are unconfirmed reports of atriocities that were committed by the Hivean forces against civilians of those bases including committing certain individuals into punishment spheres.

The nation mourns the great loss of those brave men and women but not for long since the battle for the Spot is about to begin.

Datajack Aeolus has personally expressed his most heartfelt condolences and sincere gratitudes to the Royal Family and the people of the seafaring Altantis. The split blood of courageous Altantean troops has run intermixed with those of the Angels. This only serve to strengthen the blood bond between two nations. The Angels will never forget their ulimate sacrifice and will strive to honor them. There was a ceremony with full military honors held for the war dead of both peoples.

In other news, due to a coordinated efforts by Angels' new Pact Brother, Sankis of the Nautilis, four squads of missile needlejets from the University were transferred safely to the port base of Safehouse.

Those pilots have inflicted losses upon Hivean units which hopefully will slow down their advance toward the Spot. They will be soon joined by the Angels' newly created aircrafts which is expected to come off the production lines soon....

Toole's Corner
My dear friends, you must have heard the terrible news about the fall of our bases in the Borehole Cluster region. This has been a long and difficult war for us but we cannot stop and give up. There were rumors that the Chairman Yang recently offered to stop the war if our government was to share some of our research secrets. It does not matter if this is true or not - the madman will not rest until his empire has reached Panama Canal!

Do not lose heart. Yes, the fall of our bases are a terrible news but we must remember how our men and women fought hard along with our brothers and sisters from the Sea. Instead of despairing we must look up to them as an example and honor their efforts by fighting on!

Even as we are speaking, the world are becoming increasingly united against the Menace. Even Yang's own pact brother, the Pirates, are helping us by assisting the Planetary Governor in transferring his aircrafts to our military. The royal marines of the noble Altantean nation are making advances against the Hive on their western boundaries. We all have heard about how there were a great yet terrible naval battle in the theater of Trios Archipel in which our friends emerged victorous. This enbodes well for our war effort!

If you still feel the dark tentacles of despair reaching into your soul, let this fortify you. The Madman has insulted us all by renaming New Ciba City to 'Hole of Aspiration.' This is an indignation we cannot tolerate! The act itself demostrate a complete disregard for our people by the Hive. For this reason alone we cannot give up or we would be treated worse than slaves in the Hivean empire. Can you imagine your loved ones being nervestapled? This is what Yang will do to them!

Fight on, my friends, fight on!

First time I experience this: I have a working unit in a base which belongs to the Hive now (Barinthus' former Borehole Cluster base), but it does not have free view of the tiles around it.

Does anyone know what is possible now? A crash? Can I obliterate this base now? I prefer to leave the turn as it is until I have more information...

Rubin
February 24, 2005, 06:54
Regarding the "stray unit" I noticed that Yand mind-controlled one of the two seized Angel bases (it was the northernmost base). Perhaps the covert operation triggered a special "feature" (read " bug") in the game.

I suggest the unit is obliterated or transfered to Yang (I would prefer to eliminate the unit in order to avoid any further "features"). That seems most in line with recent events.

GeoModder
February 24, 2005, 06:57

Summarization of reports intercepted from Angels military communications.

Four needlejet squads from the University has been of a valuable asset to their military efforts. They were able to inflict great damage upon the Hivean invasion force but however in the thick of the action, one squad was completely destroyed. Angels are expecting to launch their first 'homegrown' needlejet squad soon.

A former detachment hidden in a xenofungal patch was discovered by a Hive missle squad. Those civilians defended themselves very well, bringing the attacker's strength down to 40% before being overwhelmed themselves.

A scout unit is reported missing. Suspecions are that it was destroyed by a wild mindworm mass.

A column of Hivan missile squads was found travelling down the road from Alphaville to the Spot. Angels have recently formed their first silksteel sentinel unit and is dispatching it to the Spot. Their military engineers hope that the new silksteel technology will help them to prevail against the upcoming assault.

An excerpt from a copy of memo distributed to the Angels military staff regarding an anaylsis of the current war effort

....There are reports that the present Hivan offensive is losing its steam. This is attributed to the fact that the Human Hive is now in two fronts war and had to divert units from the Hive-Angels front to Hive-Altantis front due to the vigorous Altantean harrassement there.

Meanwhile, the aeral force is expected to receive two or three fresh squads of Raphael class aircrafts which will increase the Angels' capability to launch strikes against the Hive's military.

The major concern facing our military is the fact that Hive is producing their own aircrafts. Due to their significantly higher production capabilities they can easily outstrip our ability to strike from the skies.

It is essential that we continue to equip our units with anti-aircraft abilities and strive to find new ways of defending ourselves from the Hivean aircrafts....

From our reporter on The Spot, MY 2199.2802

a RAF reconnaissance 'chopper has confirmed today that after
last years' fierce battle around the base the Hive invasion army
is scattering. The threat to this base is not completely over yet
but war production in the Data Angel faction is finally coming to
a steady speed and is now able to replenish losses in battle.

Rumours are that Military Command here is already drawing
plans for retaking of Hole of Aspiration and Alphaville, the bases
lost to the Hive only a few years ago.

Also, the local Intelligence community here appears amused
with the Royal Intelligence liaison officer, but no comment for
the reason can be obtained sofar, neither from the Data Angels
