View Full Version : Petition for Political Party CivGroup Icons
Inverse Icarus

I would like to see small political party icons in the civgroups. People already plaster things like "Communist Party of Apolyton" in their location fields (myself included), don't you think it's time to make little icons that people can choose?

I agree. And we need elections for the poly-parlement every 6 months. Not that the poly-parlement would have any power, but it'll be nice anyway :D

Democratic elections have everything to do with civilization. How do we want to organise things.
If something is civilized, it's democratic parties :doitnow!:
Again, the decision on this is up to the owners. However, based on past similar questions, I would have to agree that Comrade Tassadar has probably predicted the answer ;)
It's a gaming site... not a political site.
And as far as "elections" for political parties not related to games go... I will continue to stop any that I see. Past elections led to much spam and many rules violations... so they will not be allowed.
Now for the traditional line.... this isn't a democracy ;)

Maybe you shall include it in your quotes, might make it easier :D ;)

We should make a list of the standard admin/mod responses. Then rather than going into a thread and saying "This isn't a democracy" they could just say #3. For "We have carefully reviewed your decision and have taken it very seriously. Unfortunately our answer is no", #7.
Think of all the time they could save! :cute:

Or just include all possibilties in their quotes/sigs, this way they just have to post, but not even need to bother what :D
Bu the number system is also quite OK, but might make some discussion (too) short:
Q: ????????
A: #5
Q: But.......
A: #7
Q: What about........
A:#1

Please, grand lords of Poly, spare me from exposure to even more political propaganda than I already suffer on this site.
Ppl have location and sig lines to advance their personal agendas.
That, IMHO, is more than enough.

#7's a good choice.
I see no need for political party civgroups- that bar on the left is getting quite crowded enough ;)
and as was menitoned- this IS a gamesite! ;)

Let's try to see if you can really forsee Dan and Markos' reactions.
What would Dan/Markos react to:
1. Can we vote for a new OTF moderator?
2. Will you cover the new Tiberian Sun game?
3. Can we have flag for South Dacota?
4. Will you create a politics-forum?
5. Can I post some pirated games here?
6. Ming did an awefull thing, what will you do about it
7. Are you a communist?
8. Why don't you care about freedom of speech?
9. Can we have images in our signatures?
10. Will you manually insert the real join-dates for all the 1970 people?
now let's see how knows most about Markos and Dan.

I'll bite.
1. No, moderators are appointed by the admins.
2. No, it's RTS.
3. No, we don't wish to get into the quagmire of adding flags.
4. No, the OT is sufficient.
5. No, it's against stated site rules.
6. Probably remove him from the forum mods list for a few days but do essentially nothing. He's worth too much. :)
7. Neither admin is stupid enough
8. You can have your say, but not if it conflicts with site rules, which we decide.
9. No, images in sigs gets out of hand.
10. Can't really be bothered, there are more important things on the to-do list. Also the 1970s people like the situation as it is.
:D

1. Not a democracy
2. <strike> The Sims </strike> Tiberian Sun will not be covered by this site.
3. No.
4. This is a gaming site.
5. Sure, go ahead.
6.
7. *ban*
8. This is a private forum, live with it.
9. We have carefully reviewed your decision and have taken it very seriously. Unfortunately our answer is no.
10. Its on the to-do list.

1. No. {thread closed}
2. No, we will not be covering Tiberiun Sun. {thread closed}
3. {complete silence while spam builds up in the thread for a few days}........... {Ming closes thread}
4. {spam builds up in thread for hours, probably days} .... No, that's what the OT is for. {more spam in the thread} .... {thread eventually dies or is closed by Ming}
5. No, you may not. {thread closed}
6. {complete silence}
7. {complete silence}
8. You are able to exercise freedom of speech as long as it does not violate site rules. {different reactions based upon moderator's or admin's mood}
9. No, images in sigs gets out of hand (NOTE: blatant copy of DrSpike's here... I think he's right about this one :p ) {thread left OPEN and builds up some spam before it eventually dies}
10. {thread builds up spam for a while} It's not really a compelling need. {thread left open to build up more spam about long-time posters... eventually either dies or Ming closes it, more likely it dies after about 3-4 pages of spam}

What would Dan/Markos react to:
1. Can we vote for a new OTF moderator?
[Dan] We have carefully considered your request. Unfortunately, for the present time the answer is no.
[MarkG] no (http://www.imarton.net)
2. Will you cover the new Tiberian Sun game?
[Dan] After extensive study of your request, we have decided it is outside the realm of our site's focus.
[MarkG] no, unless i get a hundred new members before the week is over (http://www.imarton.net)
3. Can we have flag for South Dacota?
[Dan] Careful deliberation has been applied to this idea, and the answer is no.
[MarkG] no but did you know imarton got a flag? (http://www.imarton.net)
4. Will you create a politics-forum?
[Dan] Although this idea has merit, we believe it is outside our site's core focus.
[MarkG] imarton.net (http://www.imarton.net)
5. Can I post some pirated games here?
[Dan] No.
[MarkG] no, especially if they find out (http://www.imarton.net)
6. Ming did an awefull thing, what will you do about it
[Dan] And lose my weed supply! Are you ****in' CRAZY MAN!!!!1???!111
[MarkG] Ming has been given a slap on the wrist. We have enlisted Richard Simmons to apply the slap.
7. Are you a communist?
[Dan] No.
[MarkG] maaaaaaaybe (http://www.imarton.net)
8. Why don't you care about freedom of speech?
[Dan] Your idea has merit, but this website is privately owned, and thus we are at our discretion to remove content we may feel is turning away new members.
[MarkG] ..|.. (http://www.imarton.net)
9. Can we have images in our signatures?
[Dan] Signature images have been considered, but it was decided that they are unnecessary and add excessive load time, so, for the present, no.
[MarkG] only news posts should have images, silly! (http://www.imarton.net)
10. Will you manually insert the real join-dates for all the 1970 people?
[Dan] That's Markos's job.
[MarkG] no. we're trying to keep our average age down for advertising purposes. (http://www.imarton.net)
