View Full Version : Ok, what happened to: "Something while you wait"
Robert Plomp

I'm pretty bored during the 3 seconds I'm waiting to be brought back to the forum after posting.
And there's nothing to read during those long-lasting seconds.
What happened to those remarkable lines of wisdom that used to brighten my knowledge after every post I placed on poly?

It went to the same place as the ability to use the search function, apparently. :cute:

They were lost witht the change to PHP safe mode.

But why has the text not completely been removed?
Now it's: "Here is something to read while you wait:"
And then there's nothing.
I suggest: remove the line completely and all will be fine!

Well, probably beacuse only the quote generation broke.

Oh, and you seem to be tinhking of the void that is to think about. ;)

the 'quote generation'?
So, I'm from the quote generation, but the new kids on the forum are not ;)
I guess that everything will be fine when Markos will be out of the militairy service :D
Thus: do not invade greece or poly won't be fixed :doitnow!:

Iquess that the quote generation are tone ones that lived to see the UBB quotes, before they were lost in battle with the new vB system about three years ago.

Of, and the qoute generation i referred too earlier it was the 'quote producing' command that PHP thinks is unsafe.

The quotes broke.
With no more Star Trek quotes between posts, thus did the Polytubbies rejoice. And verily, to Markos did they say fix it not. At last, peace was attained.
Here is something to think about:

I've seen the quotes-functionality work during the past 3 years. I even wonder if the quote-system already existed 3 years ago...

Maybe Markos will change it to look like this:
Here is something to think about :
Become an Apolyton plus member for only 2$ and enjoy multiple benefits!

There were the old and the new qoute system.
Before vB was UBB, which had some Mark Twain quotes IIRC, then in the vB upgrade they were lost. A new quote system got installed and more quotes were added, but the 'original' never returned. That second (in my time frame of Poly) system were lost this winter when PHP safe mode were activated.

What's the difference between the 'safe mode' and the 'former mode', 'safe mode' sounds like something went wrong....

Safe mode is more secure, not allowinf PHP scripts to do as many things as before. Markos posted a thrad about it in time of the change. I did break many things back then, most are restored now, but some still show up.

There are the two buttons, "pause" and "forward." Try thinking about the concept of pausing forward.

I think we should not give such encouragements :scared: What will happen if we force people to think about spamming more every time they post.
