View Full Version : Questions on Pacifism

I searched the forums and found out some stuff I didnt know before, like how some planes always create pacifism problems with low police ratings - even if they are at home. But I've been getting some wierd problems here. When I look at my psych, it shows drones created by population (only 1), then with the facilities it gets rid them, then below that it shows that in the end I have 2 drones in the city because of "pacifism". I have recreation commons and hologram theater in this city, and I dont know why they arent taking care of the drones.
What does pacifism mean? What is it exactly that creates these drones?
at first I thought it was because of war with other factions, but I realized I was still getting these drones even when I wasnt at war. I also got these drones in cities that werent even supporting any planes. I have no idea what is making the drones and thus I cant fix the problem. Could someone explain the situation to me?

pacifism drones continu to happen even when not in war. They only need to 'see' a unit of yours outside your borders.
In a base screen you can see which unit causes the drones, have you tried that?

Ah, I didnt realize you could do that. Thanks a bunch.
Would something like a sea former cause drones if it was outside the borders?

No, only military units.
Probes, crawlers, formers, alien artifacts... They're all free of drones.

Colony pods and intercepters too!

Interceptors will cause pacifism drones if they're outside your borders. Basically Needlejets and Choppers always cause pacifism drones at all times, sincce their high mobility would otherwise allow you to conquer nearby bases to quickly that you needn't worry about ending a turn outside your own border.

Really? I always thought intercepters were drone free in every situation. But now I think about it, I remember a thread moaning about how auto defending interecepters can cause drone riots if tempted out to sea, so that makes sence...

What about missiles? You figure, you're only going to get one usage out of them. So, would they technically create drones as well?
I'm not exactly sure if this is right or not, but when I have bases with planet busters in them, they tend to have more drones than other bases without the PB's.
:hmmm:

Do SAM choppers count as interceptors? I can't remember.

SAM choppers are considered interceptors for the purposes of pacifism. I'm not certain, but I'd put a solid amount of money on missiles not causing pacifism.

Excellent. SAM choppers are probably my favorite unit. Airforce? You had a airforce?

Myself, I rarely stay in Free Market after I've discovered Doctrine Air Power, and never once I've gotten choppers. That's when Morganites should switch to Fundy/Green/Wealth and commence aggressive proselytization of their economic ideals.
If you've done a good job of developing good energy sources, the dip in income will not be terribly noticable, and your visits to Free Market will be exclusively geared towards brief population booms.

Missiles cause p-drones the same as attack aircraft, unless your greenpeace people are :hippie: specialists.

So, once you use the missile the Drones "disappear"?

"Green" governments LOVE vast, conquering armies. There's neither a police nor morale penalty, and the extra efficiency results in less unrest when new bases are conquered.
Add to that the native lifeform bonus and you're ready to wage some serious war, whether by land, sea, air, or *other*.
Kinda funny, huh?
Question here. SAM Air units are considered interceptors, which are considered defense units, so they don't create drones, right? You can probably tell I didn't read this post very well. Oh, and missiles cause drones, believe me, I would know. And if gravships and chopters have SAM ability, are they considered interceptors? Can they actually scramble an air defense?
