I've tried to make scenarios before but they were all disasters imo. Now I'm working on my firs serious project which will be released. :D For those interested I will post a thread for it later on. ;)

I keep a website, make utilities, maps and generally try to make myself useful.
I've made one scenario so far. I have plenty of ideas for more, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet ("too much work").

I only do utilities, although I try to be as useful as possible.

I steal other people's gfx and event ideas, complain about utilities, tease for months on end, and habitually hijack threads. In the end, I call it a scenario. :D

I have dozens of ideas for scenario, I download dozens of scenarios, graphics from other (good) creators and designers, I prepare dozens of bases for my scenario's ideas, and finally... NOTHING DONE !!! :wall:
I know, that's my fault. It's my fault cause I have a lot of material and datas, but I don't put them together... :o
I'll try, I promise !
But, in the meanwhile... Keep on YOU creating SCENARIOS !!!
I can't create, but I'll always play them !!!(not always true, however... too little time...)

Long ago, I finished a pair of scenerios for my own use-generally they were simple and without too many events, and I am a terrible artist so I always use other people's graphics. But I was happy with my scenerio overall, which was an alien invasion of the Solar System in the midst of a war between the different human political factions that had developed on the differing planets and moons.
I have about 3 unfinished projects-for which I have the maps, the units, but not the tech tree or events:
These include a WW1 Europe Scenerio
A Cold War 1983 scenerio
A fantasy scen. at a Medeival tech level.

I dared to vote "scenario creator" even if my first scen isn't released yet (but will be in 1-2 weeks) :D
I think the "addiction" was effective as I'm already planning the 2 next ones, and I'll probably start working on the first of them as soon as the release is done! :)

I am guilty of making some scenarios, but I am always honoured to work with some of the great creators in the CIV2 communities!

@ Boco!
I'm a designer. I've got half-a-dozen of the damned things around somewhere on my hard drive, and I'm stringing together two more as we speak. The Jutland will take time--Fairline's perfectionism is not to be rushed. The other is a small 1000-1250 AD scenario that I'm putting the finishing touches on now.

I start projects, congratulate people, hijack threads, create useless threads for projects I am starting, make maps that aren't very good, steal gfx, think of ideas that other people have made into good scenarios, complain about how most utilities don't work on Macs, and then call it a scenario, but others (not to my face) call it a disaster.

I'm not sure which category best fits me. When I'm not spamming Mercator's threads :cute:, I intermittently work on scenarios and tamper with the odd graphic. Failed scenario designer? Possibly.

I've designed a scenario. It's not my fault nobody will play the blasted thing, right?

for 'perfectionism' read anal obsession with unimportant details. ;)
Heresson: I don't see a box for 'I would finish a scenario I've started if I wasn't a lazy b'stard, and anyway this scenario designing thing is too much like hard work. It's much better use of my time to change 1 pixel in a unit graphic repeatedly until boredom sets in.'

I've started to try to make a scen but only got as far as the map. (which is darn good). I'm also making a fantasy map which i ike alo (posted an ealy version a while ago, now it's more worked upon.
I try to help as much as i can, but my total lack of art skills (drawing a wall 4 pixels high imitating an existing pattern is not art ;) ), good ideas, experience, time online and time with the computer limit it.
I like making maps, though... but i'm too much of a perfectionist to finish them at anything but a crawling rate... I've finished the layout for most of a map of Patagonia (missing the falklands only), and started a bit on the terrain, but it is a large map and i've still got a lot to fill in (and terrain is hard, especially vegetation...).
anyway, the scenario i wanted to do will probably only become a mod, in the sense that i'll make some of the modifications to the basic game to see how they work...
anyway, i'm also a lazy bum, so ;)
I guess I'd class myself as a sucessful scenario maker, modestly sucessful unit designer and near-total failure as a website designer/hoster ;)
I'm also an awful playtester - my comments are slow to arrive, and when they do so they tend to focus on the negative too much :o

I've made scenarios, but my Fantastic Worlds copy has a bug that seems to mess with the tables in the game... every second time that I save, the names of the wonders get offset and whatever I've renamed the Colosseum becomes the new name for the Colossus... it's amazingly annoying- I wasted hours renaming things after each 'crash'... because I couldn't concentrate on testing the game when I didn't know what the units were- and when the terrain is called "Rifleman" terrain, I generally had no idea what the heck I was founding my city on- so I regretfully gave up :(

DarkCloud: that's why you shouldn't use the in game editor so much. Change most things manually, and it won't be like that. ;)

Yeah, just edit the txt files. Less of a headache.
DarkCloud
June 20, 2004, 21:09
I would do that, but I don't think I'm good enough to do it... I really can't replace images in any other place than the game itself... I haven't been able to (even using tutorials) figure out how to paste new unit graphics onto the pallets... and fixing that is usually when the files get corrupted.
the other times they get corrupted is when I'm laying out the map.
anyone interested in seeing some of my work, please visit my homepage: http://home.att.net/~civgames/index.html
I'm particularly proud of my Lord of the Flies scenario ;) it may not be a 'great campaign' but it works, and I modified all the graphics in there as best I could ;)

You can just use paint to copy and paste, it never fails :D
