The discussion thread has been visible for weeks;)
Great intro, and great pic
And now onto the fight... I mean... into the game :cute: :D :p
Paddy
March 23, 2004, 13:59
hmmm, well Sir LzPrst, we started this as another game was finishing another game.
We then ran 2nd Coalition New Game Discussion Thread (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=110187). It was in this thread that we sorted our thoughts...
and thus this game was created :D
But games are always starting and you are getting along to new threads very quickly, so you will get involved with more and more and more if you keep at it. :)

One of my favourite civs ... China. :cute:
I remember someone saying: The editor will make sure that most of us will get a seafaring civ. One of 7 isnŽt a result I call "most of us". But nevertheless, IŽm satisfied. Chinese Riders will rule the world.
Onto the Zulu guy (Johann Moritz). :D

Oh BTW Johann, when you send me a save could you save them as To Chrisius, Randomizer, 4000BC(or whatever year).sav
I am in several PBEM's and this woul;d help me out with keeping track of the saves thanks :)
Wittlich
March 24, 2004, 14:57
I just name the saves after the individual PBEM. For example, I will send this one forward as:
Randomizer-Wittlich of the Maya 4000BC.sav
The only thing I change is I add the first word (name of the PBEM in question). ;)

March 24, 2004, 16:22
@ Johann:
Please make sure that IŽll get his e-Mail-Addy, because IŽm the one whoŽs sending the saves to him. I think heŽll need only the adress of ChrisiusMaximus, because we wonŽt make so many turns that heŽll get contact to any other player. Or maybe youŽll meet a hot signorina in Italy (who knows ?) and you decide to elope with her. :D Then heŽll need more.

I guess we'll wait and see if the problems go away...
btw, I will be gone for almost a week during easter. I'm going home to celebrate my mother 50th anniversary, leaving sunday, after that(wednesday) I may do one last attempt at skiing this season. I may be able to play the occasional turn until I leave for the mountains.
ChrisiusMaximus
April 3, 2004, 05:05
so i stay 1.15 with this ?
please someone say before i play the save :)
Shogun Gunner
April 3, 2004, 09:06
I'm don't want to update to 1.20 and/or 1.22.... I don't believe we need to be early adopters. Let's see how things go for a week or two by reading the C3C forum.
Apparently 1.22 fixes the problems that 1.20 created, but these are the obvious graphical, rule changes, etc. I'm sure we will start to hear about balance, gameplay type issues once folks have played a few games to completion.
We can all agree to patch at the same time when the patch is a bit more seasoned. That's my vote.

Paddy
April 12, 2004, 09:52
yes I do, especially when you are waiting on a save....
we have 8 players here, and by posting here that you have forwarded the save, we all have an idea where it is, and thus when we might get it again...

April 14, 2004, 23:00
indeed
Ok, this game can be upgraded to 1.22
with great thanks to Alexman.
there is some mucking with biq files.
I am happy to do the game files upgrade to get this game from 1.15 to 1.22
all it then needs is for each of you to load the 1.22 upgrade\
interested???
bongo
April 15, 2004, 03:02
I have a small number of other PBEMs going as well, all at 1.15b.
How do we do it, do we have to do those dual install thingies?
Paddy
April 15, 2004, 04:50
there is a thread operating with all the guff from Alexman
I will try to find it again :D
Johann Moritz
April 15, 2004, 15:38
Sent to Chrisius Maximus :)
Does 1.22 need the previous installation of 1.20? :hmmm:
bongo
April 15, 2004, 15:45
Nah, think it will work fine on a basit v1.0 install
Paddy
April 15, 2004, 15:51
unfortunatley the upgrade 1.15 to 1.22, that I was trying, does not work... :(
from Alexman - on the other thread
Your "1.15 to 1.22" install is the 1.22 executable with the conquests.biq, conquests.mb, and civilopedia.txt from 1.15, right?
This install is so that you can play 1.15 saves using the 1.22 executable, but these games will still not be able to be played on pure 1.22. Is that what you want to do? If so, I don't have any suggestions, other than manipulating the saves using a savegame editor or some
Iron Jackson
April 15, 2004, 16:06
My upgrade didnŽt work too. Even worse, it destroyed my whole Civ-installation. Thanks to XP it took only 5 min. to restore the old configuration. Had to make a complete new installation to upgrade to 1.22 .
Paddy
April 15, 2004, 16:08

April 15, 2004, 16:19
So we're running on 1.22 now?
Paddy
April 15, 2004, 16:23
no v1.15
this game can not be upgraded yet
-------------------
there is a suggestion, that if we do want we could restart it in v1.22, then we take all the same settings, we just start with several settlers, some workers, a warrior or 2 and some startup cash :D
ChrisiusMaximus
April 15, 2004, 19:36
The save has not arrived could you resend please :)
Johann Moritz
April 16, 2004, 10:57
Resent.
Can someone refresh my memory? 1.15 required 1.12 to be previously installed to work, didn't it?:hmmm:
I'm trying to explain the patch issue to a friend so we can multiplay, and I can't remember this :shame:
ChrisiusMaximus
April 16, 2004, 12:16
Yes I think that is right Johann the 1.15 needed the 1.12 tio be there :)
turn sent to Shogun :)
bongo
April 16, 2004, 18:20
Well, almost correct. There are two 1.15b patches out there, one requires the older patches to be there(1.12b,1.13b), the other is bigger and works directly on the 1.00 install.

Ok, we are 8 turns in...
due to the fact this game is unmodded, it can not be upgraded to v1.22

Perhaps it is curious, but in Spain, the country where pubs and bars close at the latest time on Earth (at least I remember having read that once :hmmm: ) no one under 18 is allowed to adquire nor drink alcohol. In spite of that, getting drunk in the park on friday nights is a common thing. And guess what, I never go there.

Okay, I've played my turn. Over to Wittlich.
I could not be any more disappointed in this game. I have attached my start position from the first Randomizer. Look at that beautiful starting position... :weep: I don't think I've had a start that good in any game, PBEM or SP.
Needless to say, my start sucks in this restart -- of course.

Shogun Gunner
April 28, 2004, 07:14
I might as well show that to ya'... it sucks.
Here I'll draw you a mental map.
Look east -- you see that? No? because there's nothing there -- just wasteland. :bored:
Look west -- you see that? Yes, all that water? Look closer, no fish, no whales, not even any damn seaweed. :wall:
Look north -- you see that? Yes, those rocks look big. No you can't do much with those type of mountains. I hope that volcano doesn't blow up on our ass. :bash:
Look south -- you see that? Yes, we all love pulling the machete out and clearing out the swamp land and jungle. :argue:
What did you ask? Resources? Luxuries? Well, I believe we are going to have to build a bamboo boat out of the jungle clearing refuse and paddle to somewhere that has food, resources and luxuries. :conspire:
Here we are on Gilligan's Island -- :madban: :madban: :madban:

No, I don't think that would be right. I was more than willing to accept the first start, so I should play the best I can with the new start.
Also, I did introduce a small bit of hyberbole into my rant -- for a more humorous b*tching session!

No, the little bugger was kind of hiding when we were at the ultrasound examination so we couldn't tell. The heart-rate is 'typical girl' though. But telling the gender that way is wildly inaccurate.
No matter what, it will be a civver :D

That's great! When my wife was pregnant with our second child, the first ultrasound was inconclusive, but during that visit the doctor said, "he would bet money it's a girl". He said it was his intuition from doing the job for so many years. When my wife went back for the second, routine ultrasound, they confirmed it was a girl -- and they were right!
That's pretty exciting for you -- I'm looking forward to the pics!

I wish American companies offerred similiar benefits packages as European companies. I get such a tiny amount of vacation/sick time per year, that I always exhaust it and even take leave-without-pay so I can get some time away from work.
Enjoy your vacation Bongo! And enjoy the time with your new baby. My second girl is 11 months and its a wonderful experience. We just took her and her sister for a walk.
