I am a little confused about the pictures folder and the ZFS files inside.

I notice pictures for new units/advances in mods are just put in the pictures folder but there are also a lot of pictures in the ZFS files.

The ZFS reader allows you to save files in a different format but I cant see where you resave them as .rim and put them back in the ZFS folder.

Can someone explain how the pictures operate, am I right in guessing the game looks in the ZFS folder and if the picture is not there, tooks in the Picture folder?

Thanks.:)

You don’t just save them a .tga in the pictures folder.

The game looks in the pictures folder if one does not exist there then it loads form zfs:D

Thanks Big Mac.

Are U sure about the order.

I saved 8 pictures from the zfs file as tga, altered them, resaved them as .rim but then could not copy and paste into the zfs file. Instead windows saved them into the pictures folder. By rights, then when the game loaded my altered files should have appeared in the graphics as they were in the picture folder but the oroginal ones were the ones used, ie the ones that were always in the zfs file.

Is there any way of resaving .rim files back into the zfs file?

Hold that bus.

The game only recognises .tga files in the pictures folder. I saved a copy of the .tga ones there and they appeared this time, it ignored the .rim files in the folder.

there’s is no point in making a new .zfs file. Look at the size of it if you are going to send it over the internet its easier to send the pics :D

ps what you working on :D

Last year I started on a mod expanding on the early part of Cradle. With help from Hex, IW, MG, Pedrunn, I added 10 techs, 10 units, several buildings and a couple of features such as 30% chance of an advance from city capture and a 0-30% pw bonus for pillaging.

Working on some other ideas. In the meantime I was just dabbling with some graphics to change the feel of the game.
