I'm downloading it now. As soon as I download them all, I'll upload them to the Spanish Site (so we don't have the data transfer problem), of course if you agree :)

Harry, don't you think that something is missing in this unit? :hmmm: I mean, the anchor in the shield.

Not again! :doitnow!:

At 9.4mb a scenario, does GeoCities only allow one DL per hour?
jasev
January 23, 2004, 18:59
Less, in fact :(
I downloaded them all, so if Harry agrees, I'll upload the files to the spanish site tomorrow.

Everyone,
Yes, Geocities does suck, but it was the quickest way to get the scenario out.
@Jasev, yes, please do, you have my permission. The shield on the Nemo/Fairline boat is how I designed it. I didn't really want to make a full anchor. I dunno, it's something.
Well I hope you guys like it. I could have spent another 4 months on it, but then again I'm picky.

Thanks, Harry.

¿Did I ever mention that our webcounter is located at the main page, http://spanish.apolyton.net? :D
That's the reason I never give a direct link to an inner page.

i just saw it at my brothers pc - first little remark:
why does berlin have a #110 shield production and cologne just a#15 shields? It is representing the "Ruhrgebiet"! ;) The highest populated and highest industrialized region all over germany- especially in the 40´s

I am extremely impressed with the storyline and attention to detail in this release.
This scenario is an amazing achievement for CIV2.
It should join the ranks of the classics.
In fact, speaking as a cartoonist,
I think Harry should consider writing comics! :b:

LOL I really forgot to congratulate first!
Sorry Mr. Tuttle...
This one looks awesome! :) :b:
@jasev: You forgot to upload the Win XP Versions...
Back here in Düsseldorf at my own PC I can´t play this one any longer! :(

@jasev: You forgot to upload the Win XP Versions...
Not at all. It was a small file so I included it in the fourth scenario file ;)

Oh thanks- I guess I need glasses... :D
@Harry:
The stormtroopers unit for me looks a bit as an Afrikacorps one
And why are fascist rebels stronger than the Wehrmacht unit?
On the other side I like the fact that there are not much units left and that you have to regenerate your empire first! :b:

Have I mentioned how much I love the bright red Mig fighters? Totally apropriate. I also love the idea of a war between Germany and Russia led by Rommel and Zhukov. Its interesting to think how a war would have gone between two brilliant military thinkers.

Thanks everyone for all your kind words. It still needs improvement though, so whatever suggestions you have are welcome.
The Fascist Rebel unit in South America is pretty much there to beat up on the "Rogue" Brit and American units there and are not really meant to depict any advantage. It's a way to advance the game more quickly.
The stormtrooper unit is supposed to start out looking like an afrika corps unit as they "were drawn" from North Africa. This should change when you start playing as the Nazis and the units switch. Since you are supposed to start out playing as the Abwehr I had all the units look as they would from the limited view you will start out with. The Nazis may be able to build the units, but by the time you should see the Nazi units the graphics should have switched over.
I hope the part where you play as the Nazis is fast paced enough. I'd hate to have the tech rate be extremely long in the beginning whereas it should be just a little bit challenging to start with. And let's all hope the events work right as the second chapter depends on tech to advance the plot. Take note of the rather bland coloring of the defeated Russians.... and the rather bright Mig 15............. ;)

What the heck are those soviets up to?
Have they built a dimensional gateway to a certain frosty island? ;)

It would be a fun scenario indeed! :D

January 29, 2004, 14:37
Well then Harry, Curt, you two get cracking on it right away!! I wanna see the Beta by Friday at the latest!!
Seriously though, it would be different to have dragons and giant eagles dogfighting with Messersmidts and Spitfires in the sky. T-34's and armored Aliphants fighting it out on the battlefields. U-boats and Sea Serpents fighting for controll of the shipping lanes.

January 29, 2004, 19:16
:) Well maybe I should have made them something else other than Soviet :)
While they are "Soviet" units by control they are meant to be only for that event. So no, I'm sorry, the Soviets are not spawning demons... but the Tibetan monks seem to be :)
The Walking Dead are air units with a limited range. I was afraid the popup point was to close to Allied territory (thought the units might make it to a friendly city or airstrip) so I made them Soviet so they would die out long before the switch of files was made. You might notice the Walking Dead are in the file slot of an atomic bomber. Plus, the Tibetan Monastery unit is in the place of a Soviet tank, so if by chance your Ski Troopers didn't complete the mission the Soviets would have a Soviet tank once the file switch was made.
Plus I did have to make the units all one civ as they had to attack your units and not eachother.
You might want to wait and see what is in store for Atomic Eagle 2 (title forthcoming) with those Walking Dead units...
Oh, and Curt, just say the word, I'm sure we could put something together easily enough

Atomic Eagle 2? Oh my god I can't wait for that one. It'll involve the walking dead eh? Sweet!! How many of these Atomic Eagle games are you planning to come out with?

A recent book by Michael Moorecock, had his albino warrior character 'Elric' visiting his German alter ego in WW2.
A good read - It features bombers being attacked by Dragons! :D
PS
If we get the opportunity to make a fantasy vs WW2 scenario, I would be happy to conspire with you, Harry!
Feel free to throw any ideas my way...:)

And the Dragons win, too! :)
A good read, indeed! :b: (a cross between Elric and the Von Beck series)
EDIT: and reducing a sorcerer such as Elric to a mere "warrior", you should know better Curt... ;)

After a very long time of wanting to do it, I at last tried the scen! Even if I just started, I have to say the following:
Harry, it's brilliant! :b:
I won't write a long post, because I'm eager to keep on playing ;)
Just a comment, though: I had problem to find the Ore factory, and after a long while looking for it, I cheated to make sure it existed, and it appeared it didn't... So checking from the start of the scen, I came to the following conclusion:
1) it got destroyed by a foreign unit
2) as it wasn't a NONE unit, it got disbanded
Now, unless it is on purpose (the "disband" hypothesis) and you want it as a "time" limit (i.e. either you find it quick, or it gets disbanded, but then you should warn the player somehow), you should make this unit a NONE, I think...
YOur opinion??
Back to the game... :D
PS: it's truely amazing mate! :b: :)

Well crap, it seems that the ore factory is indeed under a city name, Abuja. In my test runs the city has never abandoned it but I could see it happening if the city is destroyed or runs out of food (though all other civs are at peace with eachother at this point so it probably wasn't destroyed). Though, as food goes, the city does have three somewhat large resources in its radius...
If you start the game, cheat, and then change it, there should be no problem.
I thought I caught all the bugs from the beginning part of the scenario, dang it.
The scenario is so damn huge playtesting didn't yield to many results. Just remember, when you finally complete all the missions, you really do have to use the cheat menu to switch sides. This was done to ensure a truly random game when switching over to the Nazi civ.
After that, well, you're in unchartered waters as I have only played it so many turns. The development of the game, all 9 megs and all, really burned me out.
If someone wants to take over development be my guest. The scenario, after all, was an exercise in stretching the limits of the game engine.
Have fun Cyrion. Remember, you have to be quick or the missions may become jepordized just for the simple reason that the game is so huge.
