I've started this thread to see what people's opinions on the manual are. It's still pretty basic so I would like to hear what you think about it and what you would like to be added.Cheers, Chris |

Chris has designed a new Instruction Manual which will blow you away, IMHO! It's just been uploaded to the Clash Web site, so feast your eyes! http://clash.apolyton.net/frame/ |

Firstly I have to say that the current manual looks very good, and like it should become a very useful resource when starting the game.Just one quick question though, are you considering either puting this up so it is previewable on the site so you could just have a quick browse to see if you liked it when you were on the site, and then decide wether to download it. Or another idea would be to post a features page for it on the website so people know what it is they are downloading. |

Khanzid: Actually there are three separate links which allow you to view the manual online: 1) In the 1/4/00 News bulletin. 2) In the Documentation Team section near the top of the "Demo v4-Win" page. 3) In the "Download #3 Instruction" section near the bottom of the same page. |

Kull:I had the same problem as Kanzid. I finally did stumble across the one in the demo page before I had a chance to complain . You (well at least I) instinctively expect the instructions link to have an HTML version as well as the download. If you guys could change that page so that it has both a link to the HTML copy, and the link to the download, I think it would be best. |

Originally, the link WAS to the online version, and you had to go to the demo page to actually download the instructions. When we posted the new manual, I thought "Well that's dumb, the link in the download section should actually be the download!"If it's really that confusing, there are several alternatives: 1) Change the Section Title to "Clash Demos". After all the first link isn't a download either. We could create a generic downloads section later, should one prove necessary. 2) Have three links in the download section, including "On-line Instructions" and "Download Instructions". Only problem is those titles won't fit on one line. (Suggestions?) 3) Eliminate the Instructions link from the Web Site Index altogether. Both the download and on-line links are available on the "Demo v4-Win" page anyway. My curiosity has been piqued however. Did anyone else have trouble finding the on-line manual? Any suggestions for an approach different from the three outlined above? If not, which of the 3 "improvements" do you like best?
