OLD NEWS/OCTOBER 98
E.T. PHONE HOME? (Oct. 24)
The PCGames Preview of C:CTP looks like most we have seen so far. However, a careful look at its content reveals this eye-opening paragraph (quote):
"Call to Power will encourage peaceful, utopian players as well as militaristic ones by including an alternate 'peaceful victory condition.' If you can develop the scientific chops, it's possible to establish a base in outer space and find a wormhole..." And there's more to it! Check it out!
NEW SCREENSHOTS (Oct. 16)
I was wondering why news sites and tv channels love the word "exclusive". Well, I just found out! :)
Activision was kind enough to send us three new screenshots. These are exclusive 1024x768 screenshots of the City Status and Unit Status screens, and an in-game screen. Lots of details are now easy to see,
and some interesting features can be seen. Check them out!
WILL WESTWATER INTERVIEW (Oct. 6)
The Lead Designer of C:CTP answered our questions about the
his work on the game and gave us something to dream... :)
TRANSCRIPT UP (Oct. 4)
The official transcript from yesterday's chat with C:CTP's programmers has been released. It all starts here. Enjoy!
CHAT ANYONE? (Oct. 3)
That's right, Apolyton now has it's own IRC chat room! Just logon to irc.iol.ie and join the channel #civ. Drop in to say hello (perhaps to Markos and myself included!) and discuss various aspects of Civ'ing with others.
Looking for a IRC client? Check out the versatile mIRC.
CHAT DETAILS (October 3, 1998)
The day has come! :) The chat will take place on Ireland's biggest irc server
irc.iol.ie on channel #civ. For more info on IRC see
www.mirc.co.uk. Our thanks to Derek Lande
for his help on seting up the channel.
CHAT ON SATURDAY (30.Sep-2.Oct)
This Saturday, October 3rd, we will host a pubic chat with three members
of the CTP team: Mark Lamia, the producer, Steve Mariotti, the lead programmer and Joe Rumsey,
networking and game Engine programmer. The chat will begin at 12 noon Pacific Standard Time
(That's 3pm on the East Coast, 8 pm in the UK, etc). Have we not mentioned your timezone?
Check out the Timezone Converter.
The chat will take place on irc(and not in a chat room as first announced). More details will
be available tomorrow.
