Ah well, it has come to this, the conclusion of the seventh year of the Apolytoners' Hall of Fame. With the closing, we welcome three new members into the Hall of Fame:

Blake (404 votes), Dominae (306 votes), and Loinburger (276 votes).

Blake: Blake is a New Zealand Buddhist Civ IV modder known for creating an AI improvement mod for the Civ4 Warlords expansion. After seeing Blake's excellent work, Firaxis hired him to program the AI for Civ IV: Beyond the Sword (BtS). He is known for a rigorous mathematical approach to games that makes him an expert at games like Civ4 and SMAC (Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri). In 2002, he started an Alpha Centauri clone game project- Stella Polaris, which was covered in the Alternate Civs section, however due to real life stresses, he had to retire from that programming. When he returned to the forums around 2004, however, he returned motivated to make his mark on Civilization and the site. (Special thanks to Solver for some of the above information.)

Dominae: is one of the master strategists in Civ4 and one of Apolyton University's most famous collaborators. According to fellow Hall-member Velociryx, Dominae is considered something of an elder statesman among the Civ IV community, ˇ°offering up consistently good advice and equal servings of patience and kindness to new players and folks new to the board.ˇ± He also participated in numerous Civ III and IV Diplomacy Games.

Loinburger: Civilization II player and OT poster, Loinburger is always ready to help put a smile on people's faces. Around 2000 he migrated to the OT community where he remained, with occasional forays into Other Games, until 2006.

BEYOND THE SWORD VOTES ADDED TO HOF VOTES

Points were awarded in the traditional manner, but also for participation in Civ IV: Beyond the Sword Tri-League competitive play.

Points were awarded for games 1-4 to the following players:

With the most voting points going to the following:

Starting with the next round of games (#7), HoF votes will be awarded on a quarterly and not a per-game basis.

All points earned up until and including the sixth round of these tournament games will remain unaffected and will be awarded under the terms that were presented to Tri-League competitors before this present date.

This December edition of the Hall of Fame is our 7th anniversary. Can you believe that? Seven years of elections, hotly contested, with tempers rising- and then great fanfare as the new inductees are enshrined!

JUNE 2007 HALL OF FAME SPECIAL INDUCTION

After discussion with the rest of the Apolyton Staff, it has been decided to award HoF induction to the following former Firaxian in recognition of his contribution to Apolyton and the Civ Community:

Soren Johnson
Whether he was providing valuable aid and advice to the Apolyton community, listening to proposals like Apolyton's LIST, or helping Apolytoners become bugtesters or work for Firaxis itself, he contribuited to the Apolyton community. He also helped out at Apolycon 2006- Apolyton's convention near Firaxis' headquarters. In other news, he co-designed Civ III and was the lead designer for Civ IV. He worked at Firaxis from April 2000-March 2007. For these accomplishments and more, he is being made an honorary inductee of the Apolytoners' Hall of Fame. Congratulations Soren!

APOLYTONERS` HALL OF FAME JUNE 2007 VOTING CONCLUDES
(15 June 2007, 15:32 | Apolytoners Hall of Fame | 1 comments) With a record-setting 1510 votes recorded this round from 219 posters who voted for 129 candidates, the names of Aeson and Skanky Burns rocketed to the top of the Hall Voting list.

Next election will see a hard-fought battle between Bloody Monk, Grandpa Troll, Blake, and Loinburger for first as all four converge on the top title with a small point spread between them. Let's hope the next election doesn't get too bloody.
