NEW TOURNAMENT
(8 April 2005, 01:47 | Iron Civers) Sign up for a new Iron Civer Tournament is underway. Once a workable number of players have signed up, they will be assigned games in roughly geometric regions. Tracking threads will be prepared and games actively moderated to assure timely play and steady progress. Every reasonable effort will be made to assure players inexperienced at PBEM but familliar with Civ3 will be placed on a level playing field with the salted veterans.

Players will be awarded a nice shiny iron sword icon just for entering. Finalists will be competing for an upgrade to ApolytonPlus status (or an extention to their current account). All that is required besides game knowledge is the commitment to play on a daily basis for the next year or so, with minimal periods of absence. - Rommel2D

IRON CIVER CHAMPIONSHIP

With months of progress having passed and conflict seemingly on the horizon, the well-traveled Herodotus1889 was beseeched to supply his account:
The Time Has Come For Iron Civers to Prove Their Mettle

On a clear day in thirteen seventy five the sun rose over the Celtic farmlands. The grains had finally been harvested and packed away and now it was time for cogadh. Dressed in bright plaid bristin the soldiers marched to battle for the glory of their god, for their lands and for Aquallywelyn their lord, even if his choice of ally made them uneasy.

In the shadowless lands of the noontime sun the Sumerians had no such doubts. They marched to war because it is what they have always done and if The Alexman’s astrologers foretold great portents so much the better. They had no word for ally, there were only ur-um and those who were not yet ur-um. It was a distinction that would be lost on their victims.

As the setting sun silhouetted Zenrin Palace the Moonbarean braves made the Ashare Sahsneht for Chief Moonbars the Magnificent and his Mayan allies. Their faces were painted in red and black, their feet stomped in perfect time with the water drum. If their dance pleased the spirits they would return with great plunder. This was the dream of every young warrior.

The night was no hindrance to Great Instigator Hochpflüger Bongo or his Mayan tsiikil. Torches by night, huge tarps for the rain and where there were mountains they made roads. They were a clever people and their artifacts kept them beyond the dominion of nature. They took their tools to war now so that they would never be under the dominion of man either.

MOONBARS SHOWS NO MERCY AND CLAIMS COLISEUM C

Moonbars the Frank rounds out the field of first round champions, joining Aqualung, Alexman, and Bongo in the hall of Iron Civer qualifiers. He finished off his conquest by pulverising Andydoy shortly after the birth of his child. Will Bongo be his next target?

Our scribes have verified the legitamacy of his victory. He may now retire to his gladiator quarters to contemplate his choice of tribes for the final match.

The Tournament priests have been sent to present Moonbars with his spoils- 3 months of the finest Apolyton Plus services.
