THE NIGHT BEFORE THE TRADEWARS BANG

The December Bang is scheduled for tonight, December 22 at 5PM MST, and with it comes a veritable reinvention of Apolyton Trade Wars. The game server has been upgraded thanks to Burbel, and a host of new alien species will join the Ferrengi in harassing traders as they set about taking over the galaxy. Furthermore, that galaxy will be more than 4 times as large as previous games, expanding to an epic 20,000 sectors. There is an endless stream of colonists hoping to get off Terra, so look forward to a very big game with a lot of citadels.

Hopefully the Cylons will keep those guys from SPQR and Apolyton Corp. from taking over the whole galaxy this time, and maybe, just maybe, a 20,000 sector universe will be big enough for the two (or three?) major corporations to ply their trade peacefully. Wouldn't count on it though.

TRADE WARS IS BACK

The Apolyton Trade Wars forum is buzzing again, and a big bang of a new universe is imminent. Pre-registration is taking place in the TW forum so be sure to put your name down if you are interested in playing. Settings such as universe size and the number of ports will be determined by the number of registered players.

A practice game is up and running, and you can use a very smooth web-based client to get your feet wet and practice the basics before the big bang of the official game on November 20th.

I've put together a short list of Trade Wars 2002 clients and helpers that you may want to look through. These tools make the game a lot easier to play over the long haul, and some include graphical mapping of the galaxy as well as useful trading scripts and suchlike.

Now's the time to set up your Trade Wars corporation for the upcoming game, and a forum thread for corporations has been started where you are invited to post if you are looking for a corporation to join, or are planning to C.E.O. and need some members. This time round, there will be a corporation specifically for new players run by an NPC controlled by Aeturneus. There are certain advantages and disadvantages to joining this corporation, but it should help people new to the Trade Wars game get off to a good start (think signing bonus!)

When all's said and done, TW is as fun as the group you're playing with. Apolyton is a great community, and I hope you guys will enjoy getting back into Trade Wars. - aeturneus
