Revision 866 of the CtP2:Apolyton Edition playtest has been released in the CtP2 Source Code Project forum thanks to Martin Gühmann.
This latest release features mainly fixes for game play and the AI, but also a new option for modders. Included is a fix for the Great Wall wonder, which now protects the owner from Barbarians, and causes them instead to attack another player.
The release also allows modders for the first time to add new road-like tile improvements alongside existing ones. Allowing for new movement improvements such as highways or stone roads.
You can find the full list of changes since the last revision, and full details on how to install and use this playtest release here.

FOR THE GLORY OF CHARLEMAGNE!
(26 March 2008, 07:03 | Scenario League / Civ2-Creation | 35 comments)
Step into the boots of a great restorer!

Medieval scenario stalwart, Exile has released his latest masterwork - A chronicle covering the era of Charlemagne!
In his own words this veteran creator of such classics as '1870' and 'Age of Crusades' outlines this new CIV2 MGE adventure...
"Consolidating the remnants of Roman Gaul, Italy, Rhaetia, and Noricum, as well as large areas of Germania, the Franks of the 8th
century welded together a significant power base. When the 3rd Carolingian, Charlemagne, came to the throne, the far-reaching changes
made by his forebears had taken strong hold. Fiefs given in reward to liutenants had generated a heavy cavalry force that proved
decisive on the battlefield and the fertile lands of the Frankish realm provided ample sustenance for this new pattern of recruiting
and training to flourish. The new king led the strongest military force on the continent.
Age of Charlemagne depicts the high tide of the Carolingian Franks. Conventional in most repects, this scenario contains a new
set of Fairline unit graphix, broadly random events, and a number of historical leaders. Designed to be played only as the Franks,
the challenge for players is to follow, more or less, in the footsteps of this great King of the early Middle Ages. While conquest
is essential, for enemies abound, in the end, Charlemagne is widely seen as responsible for the Carolingian Renaissance, the first,
half-successful attempt to reignite the light of knowledge during an age of darkness."
Without a doubt, this is a scenario by one of the community's old-school experts, come and check this out ASAP!
