Apolyton Review: First Impressions: Day 2

More impressions from MarkG's first game
Right clicking on a stack of units(which unfortunately you cant move all as a group) give you the ability to select a unit but also good information on the units and the stats: the first numbers(e.g. "1/4") is the health of a unit. Standard units start with 3 points, veteran have 4 and elite have 5. What is missing from this menu is the information on which unit has moved. The little white lines under the health bar of the unit show the number of units on the same tile

Romans are gone. The "big picture" leads you the diplomacy advisor with a big hole where the head of the Romans appeared :D

I'm not sure what "fledgling" means btw :)

Yippie! There's a leader! It turned out to be the only one I got in this game. He was created when I took an important Egyptian city and shortly after eliminating the Romans. The army I created didnt survive long though....

Argh! That's what happens if you dont garison your recently conquered cities. Eventually I got it back, but it cost me a couple of units and populations points on that city

Btw, the "web-like" blue text leads to a civilopedia entry.

Creating an embassy: first you choose the nation you want to create an embassy in, pay for it, and the screen takes you to the capital of the civ.

Straight from SMAC: If you havent met all the other civs, you can establish communications with them via another civ(they'll ask something back of course).

It's a usefull idea of course, but while in SMAC with "high-tech" communication frequencies it made perfect sense, I'm not sure what's the real life/historical equivalent of something like this....

The opposite of "deposed"! Indians had dared to built a city on my continent. In the end, it just switched to me thank to the greatness of the Greek culture :D

The exciting mixup of diplomatic agreements. At the time that India has a trade embargo on me, I get India to ally with me against the English. France has a mutual protection pact with the English and declares war on India. Russia doesnt like India's 180% turn and declares war on it as well!

Stuff like that can happen in the first and middle parts of the game, but are unlikely at the later parts where each AI has determined who(AI or human) can likes or not likes.
