Oh the Humanity!

(This was played on the Apocalypse scenario, Deity level)

The Apocalypse had ended, the nuclear clouds and dust had passed, the Earth would survive another day. The human race was now an endangered species, with only a few human cities left, the rest were either in rubble or owned by some bizzare creature created by the nuclear war. Only pockets of human control still existed. Despite these incredable odds, the human race would previal, one tribe would rise, they are called the New Beetles, this is their story.

The early history of the tribe was not a good one. They inhabited what was once known as Britain, a small yet supple empire was at their disposal. From the early start of their dominion over the island, Saurians would fly over and drop bombs on them, wrecking any civilization they had mustered. They were truly a sad case, a testimant to how humanity had destroyed itself. Sir Boss (As the leader was known) realized how important it would be to end these bombings, even for the shortest amount of time, so he met with Reverand Bazzelsaurus of the Saurians and made peace, for five hundred pounds of gold, navigation, and iron working.

The new peace would not be enjoyed for long, because as soon as the Beetles had arrived on Europe, the Mutants responded. The humans were now at war with another creature created by their torrid and destructive nuclear suicide. The Mutants were nowhere near as powerful as the Saurians, and Brest quickly fell. Using this for morale, the Beetles would soon conquer Orleans and Paris, France was human again! The Beetles quickly tried to build the Manhattan project in Paris, thinking if they had nukes they could scare away the Mutants and Saurians that inhabited their land, they were sadly mistaken.

The conquering of France sent shivers down the Mutant's spine, how could the lowly humans have conquered this land? Sir Boss used this is another morale booster, claiming that god was behind the human advances and advocated the destruction of all species not human. He also made a very smart move: There were garrisons of Barbarian forces inhabiting fortresses on the glacier like islands north of scandinavia, as well as on Greenland. His plan was simple, if these forces could be payed off, they could easily help the human cause in Europe. So he payed in excess of 1000 pounds of gold, which was about as much as the Beetle's treasury could take, and put together an invasion force of Beetle warriors, cavalry, and their three new armor units. Talk about a blitzkreig, no Mutant city was safe, like spreading wildfire the humans regaind much of Europe, much to the Saurians dismay. The Saurians realized how this could be a threat and declared war on the humans again.

Shocked at this turn of events, Sir Boss realized he could not stop the bombings that were to be endured by the Saurians. But he was a smart man, and realized he had to fight fire with fire. So he set up a convoy to go into Berlin, which was a Saurian city (so was Stuttgart, the Saurians owned Germany). The plan was for the diplomat to steal the knowledge of Advanced flight under the guise of peace talks, the plan worked, and Beetlemaniacal cities were creating bombers like rabbits make babies. All the while the Beetle blitzkreig was wreaking havoc in northern Europe, by 187 all of Norhtern Europe was in Beetle control, sadly, Paris created its Manhattan project, the entire planet would pay for this mistake.

The ramifications of this wonder were not felt just yet, the Beetles didn't even make nuclear weapons, for fear of a repeat of what had caused this terrible earth. Actually, the humans were preparing to invade the powerful Eradicator empire, it was Sir Boss' thinking that if the Mediterranian fell to Human forces, that the entire world would quickly topple. The Saurians had sued for peace as did the Mutants, who were fighting eachother in Asia. The Beetles were proud of their Eurpean empire, Sir Boss started the become content, maybe Europe was enough land for Humans? This would change.

The Eradicators (who were a race of intelligent robots) started to bomb the Saurian and Mutant empires, this proved ineffective as they couldn't get the invading ground units into the cities, despite the ineffectiveness of this action, the Eradicators continued their bombing of Mutant and Saurian cities. Their adversaries however, quickly amassed ground troops and attacked the Eradicator cities, there was no denying, the Saurians and Mutants had the best land for production, they could throw together a large invasion force at a moments notice, the Eradicators had to put a stop to this.

The Eradicators were busy destroying Asia while the Beetles plotted their demise, a transport full of tanks was being put together while bombers were moving into Orleans and Kiev. The Eradicator bombings were thus far, unsuccessful. A new plan had to go into place...

The first atomic bomb was dropped on Shangbhai, which was the Mutant stronghold in Asia.

his news was terrible to the Beetles, who were ashamed of the atomic warfare their ancestors had partaken upon. And now the same mistake was being made, but this was differant, the world was already banged up badly, could it take another one, another nuclear war?

Even more importantly, did the humans want a fight with a nation that used Nuclear warheads on a regular basis, because now bomb after bomb was being dropped in Asia. As a means of retaliation, the Saurians and Mutants were now dropping nuclear warheads on Eradicator cities, including some in southern Europe (Milan and Istanbul). The nuclear threat was now existant, it was no myth anymore, it was a harsh grim reality. The humans had to choose fight or flight.

The Beetles were after all at peace with the Eradicators, and had nothing to worry about, Sir Boss had said that Europe was enough land for the humans, and they would set a peaceful example to the world, he re-coined a phrase he had read in an ancient text book: "Walk softly, but carry a big stick", this was very true for the Beetle army, which was strong, but did not flaunt it. "We can't walk softly with Nukes" Sir Boss joked "They are too loud!" The volume of the noise they created, however, was not the bad thing about them!

The humans let the nuclear attacks continue, let the world decide its own fate, Europe would live on, as a great nation, or would it. You see, Europe is right under the northern ice-caps. The radiation was causing the planet to grow warmer, melting them. Causing the land to flood into desolate swamps and bogs. This troubled Sir Boss although the problem was fixed, scientists told him if the Eradicator bombings continued the ice-caps would melt.
