The First World War

I played on the world map, King level, 7 civs, I was the Vikings. It started out very slow for me, I had already figured what areas I wanted under my belt before I stopped expanding, and that was generally my plan. So rather quickly I gained northern France, the low countries, Germany, Poland, the Finnish area, of course Scandanavia, the British Isles, western Russia, Iceland, and Greenland. It sounds like a large empire, but trust me, its just decent. Anyway I found myself in a pretty good world, I shared Europe with the Romans, who I quickly signed an alliance with, I soon found due to their war with the Mongols. I was allied with the Romans ever since, we fought the Mongols for centuries nonstop, a cease fire here and there, but generally it was nonstop, the Chinese were soon in the mix, so there was a triple alliance against Mongol expansion, even the Chinese and Romans were allied.

So I enjoyed our little Triple Threat for quite a while, I lost some territory to the Mongol bastards, but they lost some to my Norsemen as well. I never expanded for a while, I noticed that my cities were not too big, and that I didn't have much tech, but by then it was too late. The Zulus were rapidly spreading out of Africa, and I don't mean with settlers, I am talkin with soldiers. Mongol city fell to the Zulu forces, I thought nothing of it, hell I was at war with the Mongols. It wasn't until later that I joined what I call the First World War, and the damages were terrible......

It wasnt too soon that I realized A) My defenses weren't good, and B) The Mongols were the only thing keeping the Zulus out of Europe, other than the Romans and Carthaginians who inhabited the Greece/Turkey area. But again, I didn't care, the Mongol empire was way to large to fall to the Zulus, I thought. So I sat on it, I was content, slowly building my nation, my cities were superb, every city had everything, but I soon realized my bankroll was falling, and after that the Carthaginians and Zulus signed a pact to contain my aggression. It wasn't too soon that good ol' Caesar needed my help. The Zulus had invaded Lutetia, and conquered it, Lutetia was located between the Black and Caspain seas, it was almost another defense against my peaceful lands. I sent Dragoon after Dragoon after damn Dragoon, but the Zulus were too smart militarily for us, our technology was outdated, I needed more tech, I got tech from the Chinese and Romans, I was in the runnings again, but the Zulus started their offensive against Europe, to make matters worse the Mongols were also bearing in on the Urals, the Chinese soon entered the fray, the Chinese navy took out Zulu forces on their way north, the Mongols were another story. They were strong, and had lots and lots of men ready to die, I was a Democracy in the 1590's, and that aint too easy to accomplish, expecially when you have two fronts to deal with. I decided to split my empire into to halves, as if they were two nations fighting to differant wars, that way I can at least organize two seperate campains. The Romans were at least holding off the combined African allies (Zulu/Carthaginian), my Norsemen were doing great in this war though, our men saw success when it looked grimm, the Mongols then asked for a cease-fire, I accepted. The Mongols soon began to fight the Zulus in Persia, it was at one point Mongol, I began to stay out of the war. That was not even close to the REAL world war..............

Hundreds of years later the conflicts ended, no new territory was gained, except for the old Carthagine lands, Turkey became Viking (Heh heh) and Carthage became Zulu, it seemed that old Hannibal had a small lil' nation huh? Anyway peace was accomplished in the "old world", the Zulus and the Mongols were still fighting but they were mere skirmishes between Alpine troops and the Partisans of the conquered city, nothing major. The "new world" was found and we Vikings, the great explorers we were decided to colonize the continent. However we soon found Aztecs, very powerful Aztecs, very smart and very rich Aztecs, they had been isolated the entire game, boy did Montezuma want blood. Birka was founded, and soon Ravning Enge, Jarlshof, and Larne, it was all in Canada, everything else was clearly Aztec, and I wasn't about to undermine that, I had small forces over there. I spread my colonies over to Australia, Madagascar, the Pacific Islands and Japan, it was pretty impressive if I do say so myself. The world was stale, until the Aztecs decided to go make a city in Africa.

You gotta know, the Aztecs and Zulus were the two world powers of the day, and the Zulus would not tolerate foreigners in Africa, but as the Aztecs were new to these "old friends" of mine, they founded their city of Cempoala. Shaka was not too happy, the city grew quickly, but was taken by Zulu forces, this prompted a war between the Aztecs and Zulus. Lotsa naval battles, it was tough for my ships to pass through the whole thing, but I still had colonies to run and I was gonna do it, that is when the Aztecs called, "Montezuma our great leader, sees your civilzation as a minor province to bla bla bla, gimme 1000 gold!" I kindly told him that we do not bow before tyranny and greed, and he kindly told me that they decided to rid the world of my civilization, this was not good! By now it was 1885, and you won't believe this but we had Nukes and Bombers and the whole thing, it might as well have been 1985, but regardless, that was the date. I Nuked some Aztec city and it was now Viking, but the Aztecs were on home turf and retaliated, cutting my American colony into half, the Romans (bless their hearts) came to our aide. They weren't much of a help. Meanwhile the Chinese were in a war with the Aztecs as well, they fended off the Aztecs in northern Asia, but India was a differant story, and India was soon Aztec, this was a major problem, because it was in the way of my route from Britain to Australia, which I had enjoyed for centuries, it now seemed I woudl have to fight for it again. The Mongols hopped in for the Aztecs and we were at war with them now, but without the Lazer and a world full o Nukes, things were about to get ugly fast!

The first victem was The Hague (I name cities after real ones based on their locale, unless they are colonies), that city was my pride n' joy, I hated to see it Nuked, so I tried as fast as I could to revive it, and it was revived, I sent a Nuke to Kermal, a Mongolian city, I nuked it, and sent Armor in to make it Viking, it was far from my main body of territory, but as it was large, I figured Genghis would miss this one. I soon learned that the Chinese could not stand up to the combined Mongol and Aztec forces comming from India, but I couldn't send any ampile forces either, I was at war in America and Europe, and I only had two airports, it was not good. Plus I had to go through Zulu territory by land and that was impossible, so I went to Shaka to get an alliance, he decided that it would be better if we went to war instead! (Gotta love Shaka) My territory in Turkey soon fell, and the weak Romans were now in Zulu targets, the Zulus took over Greece, and eastern European territory from the Romans, I was now at war with the Zulus, however Aztec forces to retake Cempoala did stop some of the Zulu advances, my forces in Europe were still outnumbered by the Zulu offensive. I sent a carrier of cruiseships around Greenland, and down into the Hudson, this way I would strike the biggest Aztec city in sight, it was a 28 and was "right down the railway" from Jarlshof, this would be a great city to take, and maybe this offensive could end the war. The city fell, but the war didn't end, a $hitload of Aztec partisans were all around, and I only had a paratrooper to fend for the city. The Chinese territory was shrinking, but again, there was nothing I could do about it. The Mongols and Zulus started fighting the the central Asian deserts, this gave me time to organize a strike against the Mongols, but the Zulus were still comming at Warsaw and Riga, I sent Helicoptors to take them out, and as someone who never builds these weapons, they were very effective. The offensive on the Mongols was on, Kabul would fall, but I was careless, and left troops in the open when I could have had them well defended, my troops were massacred by a couple of cruise missiles. I remembered Japan, and found it was building the United Nations, what a dick I was, I made some Howitzers, got the Transport ready, and sent a "for now" force into Asia to gain back the Chinese lands, I let the Chinese conquer the cities of course, more cities was not my plan. But that only worked in northern Asia, I realized that noone was going after Australia, so I got my reserves ready and went into southeast Asia, I met myself some Aztecs and some fighting worthy of Vietnam was afoot, the Romans gained back the land lost to the Zulus and then some, but the fighting was not over, the Zulus showed up in southeast Asia, and it was war baby! My Marines were aided by Armor from Hebedy, more and more men were sent into southeast Asia, I couldn't believe such a battle ensued in such a small plot of land. The Aztecs regained their city in America, and conquered Jarlshof, only Ravning Enge and Birka remained. I decided the only way to get this war over with was to take out either the Zulu or Aztec capitals, I figured the Zulus were no immedeate threat to my empire as far as territory was concerned, so I conjured up a plot to take down Tenochtitlan, I would bulid Cuba up as a Viking military paradise, I would have nukes, bombers, fighters the whole nine yards, ground troops Battleships, everything, then I would attack Tenochtitlan, and the cities in central America, that way I would cut the Aztecs off from themselves and start a revolution. The plan was underway, but it didn't go as easy as I suspected, Aztec Battleshps took out my engineers, plus my territory was on the verge of collapse in America, so I prematurley initated the plot, I sent a nuke to take down Tenochtitlan, then an Amor, and a Marine, the city was Viking and the English rebel faction took control of Aztec cities in North America, and alliance was signed, my American territories safe, and the Aztecs weaker than the Romans. Or so I thought.

Over in Asia the Aztecs were strong, the other nations were made weak by the war but the Aztecs were immune to this I guess, beacuse they were kickin ass and taking names, the Chinese were down to only four cities when I moved in, I would repay the Chinese for all those times I declined to help, all the times I didn't give them money, didn't give them technology, I would repay them, I would restore their empire goddamit! (Makes ya wanna cry dont it?) It was all out war there, but I realized that when you rush in like an ass, you get beat like an ass, and I was beaten quickly by the Zulu-Mongols and the Aztecs. A new plan was formulated, if I took down each section of the former Chinese Republic one by one, I could win easily, so I focused my forces in one area at a time, it was then that finally the goddam Romans would actually ATTACK, they were fighting in northern Africa and doing very well at it. So it was my chance, Hangchow was Zulu now, so I figured that area would be the first to fall, it was quite simple, they just had Fanatics defending it, so it fell quick, the Chinese partisans who were still around invaded the city and made it Chinese again, more territory became Chinese, however I took a little of India so I had a port city there, the English turned their heads to Persia, and fought the Zulus bitterly for some territory, to my suprise they were able to seize Quinsay and Odense (One was Mongol and the other was mine until the bastard Zulu took it!) anyway the war still rages, I am gettin offline to play it...............
