Overwhelming The Enemy

Background: This was my 4th or 5th game and was finding it hard to win. It was on the Chieftain level.

Starting Conditions: This was a custimized world with large landmasses and continents. I began with 2 settlers and was American.

I quickly expanded and found on my continent the Vikings. This worried me, but I did not kill them, we became allies. I proceeded to dot that continent with my cities not meeting others for a while. I obtained the Marco Polos wonder and discovered where most the other civilizations were. I began to take over the Spanish and built a huge army. I had most of my wonders in one city and moved my capitol there. The name of the city was bountiful, the wonders I had in that city included, Great wall, Great Library, Leonardo's workshop, King Richards Crusades, Magellan's expedition, Shalespeare's Theater, cure for Cancer, Hoover Dam, and United Nations, all in one city!!!. I expanded to other continents. I had at least 50 cities and decided that the Vikings were imposing on me. I counted their cities on my continent, 13. So I built 13 nukes and 13 paratroopers :) You can imagine what happens next. I broke the alliance and initiated the attack. I nuked his cities and moved in with the paratroopers. The once great nation of the Vikings now had only 6 cities left. THE POWER OF THE NUKE!! I like it.

I quickly moved in the engineers and began the clean up of all the pollution. It took a long time. I even received the warning about global warming. I escaped that fate, barely, and turned my eyes back to the Spanish. I took over there cities and destroyed there civilization rather quickly. Then came the romans. They were a long ways away, and very large so I decided to build a really big army. 200 stealth fighters, 6 carriers 12 battleships, and some cruisers with transports full of howitzers. This is where the fun begins. I wiped out the Romans in a relatively short time. Taking over all the cities. There was one large civilization left, The Greeks. I took over there capitol and they split into romans. I took over all those cities.

I was also nuked several times. It was funny the computer nuked one of my cities twice withing several years. After destroying the Greeks and reborn romans I took out the Babylonians who were rather small at about 20 cities. Now I was down to one last Civ. The zulus. They had nothing to compare to me. 5 cities. I destroyed him very quickly.

The nuke is a very powerful weapon and sure is fun to use. Maybe it was wrong to make my allies, the Vikings, glow, but they deserved it. They were on my continent. This game was the first time I won. Boy was it fun. Long live civ2!!!
