VIKING SCRIBE #25

Far East meets the Far West

I was ruler of the Japanese (renamed Fergonians) on a large Earth map. Originally, I fiugred playing on a island would be fun, having to concentrate on sea power and being easily defendable.

I quickly settled my capitol (not Kyoto, I changed all the names. It was Fergia.) on the north coast of the island. A good 20 turns later, I settled Fisher Village at the bottom of the island. Now I had no where else to go. So the sea mission began.

Before long, I had Caravels, and was exploring the entire Pacific. Setteling along the Asian coast (boy, was I glad not to find Chinese there!) I soon had 5 cites, the 3 new ones being Delta Village, Plains City and North Coast. After developing these cities with granaries and baracks, I explored west ward with horsemen, expecting just to explore. Not 18 spaces away from Plains City and Delta Village did I come upon the Mongul capitol (not those Monguls! All they want is war!) I met with their dirty leader, who demanded tribute. What kinda scape goat does he take me for?! I refused him, and my first war began.

My first weak offensive found myself beaten horribly back, losing all the horsemen I sent in, and them not one unit. But new advances (namely catapults and chariots) soon produced reliable efforts, and I captured the Mongul capitol. Two turns later, I found the Persians knocking at my door, and they too demanded tribute! I refused, another war. Soon though, with no real gains, the war between me and the Persians ended, and the Mongul civilization was destroyed by the larger Persian empire.

By 800 AD, I had settled most of the Asian coast line, and Australia. My navy was large, though my land force was weak. I had become allies with my original enemy, the Persians, and with Marco Polo' embassy, I had contact with everyone else. Good diplomacy had revealed much of Europe and Asia to me through map trading, and my money flow was among the best. But I was only the fourth most powerful behind the Spanish, Persians, and Russians.

The Germans were soon destroyed in Europe by those pesky Russians, and before long, I was itching for something to do. And I got my chance. I met with the Spanish around 1435 AD, wanting to trade maps again. Except this time, they had a different agenda. After refusing to give technology and money, I found myself at war. I decided to use my newly built Frigates and Galleons to my advantage, and sailing all the way to Europe from Asia, I landed all along the southern coast of Europe. And was defeated. Apparantly the Spanish had gotten Musketeers while I was sailing, and I was routed. But A legion of Catapults conquered a Spanish city along the Black Sea, which I renamed Black Port. The Spanish sued for peace, and before long, I had discovered Communism, which I used immediately to eliminate corruption.

Now, after my war with the Spanish, the Russians had jumped to first, with me and my allies in close second place. The English, weak, had become my allies too, and I found it me, the Persians, and the English versus the Spanish and Russians.

Well, World War begain.

The English Ambassador came to me, begging me to declare on the Russians, who had just attacked them on the northern coast of Europe. Not wanting a war right now, I refused, and the English broke the alliance. Besides, I figured the English could hold them off. Boy, was I wrong.

Within the next two turns, I watched as the Russian army destroyed a obsolete English army, conquereing northern France and spliting the English nation into two with teh conquest of London (which oddly, was the English's last town). In shock, I quickly met with the Rebel Viking leader, and made a quick alliance with him. Then meeting with my Persian buddies, I asked them to declare war on the Russians. They did, and the Spanish delcared war on the Persians and Vikings in return. Then, in a finality act, on 1878 AD, I declared war on the Russians, and the Spanish on me. The war began.

Because of my far East location, I was difficult to invade. But my huge navy was of immediate help, as they pounded Spanish and Russian ports. A large landing force near Black Port ran through open Russian country side, and surprisingly, the Russian defenses were large, and I was only able to conquer one Russian city. My Persian allies had been unable to capture any eastern cities either, and I sighed inwardly. This was gonna be a LONG war.

For the next 40 years, the two mightest nations, me and the Russians, traded blows, and got no where. Then came the tanks. I quickly changed all cities to build these behemoths, and soon, a small force of 12 tanks was running through the eastern territories against inadequate defenses. Having to stop my advance just past the Urals, I noticed that the Persians had conquered many cities in the Balkans, and I knew we were wining the war.

In 1934 AD, the Spanish came to me, asking for a cease fire. I refused, figuring my new democracy government would support me the whole way. Well, I was in shock. The Senate enforced a cease fire, and after I met with Russian ambassador, and ANOTHER enforced cease fire!

Well, I decided that this sucked, and attacked a Russian city the next turn. The Hawk Party confirmed the action, and the Senate failed, my government collapsed. Yeah! I had a brief anarchy period, but hey, I could continue the war! That's what I did, and the Russians lost city after city. A last, desperate attempt to win the war almost worked, as the backbone of my army was crushed at St. Petersburg. But my eternal Persian buddies came to my rescue, stopping anotehr Russian wave dead in it's trackes, and the two of us combined were able to conquer and defeat the great Russian Empire. As a act of symobolism, I let my Persian friends take Moscow and Kiev.

The Persians, still at war with the Spanish, finished them off in 1967 AD, and I was enjoying the fruits of a Funadametalism government. The Vikings had moved out to settle North America, and the revived Indians were conquering Africa and South America.

I was unprepared for the next war.

In 1970 AD, the Persians came to me, demanding technology. I gave them what they wanted, but when they asked for 750 gold piece, I said that was the last straw.

They quickly invaded my homeland with well placed units, and I was forced to relocate my capitol back in Fergia after the Persians captured Plains City. But once again, new technology saved the day, and in 1980 AD, St. Petersburg produced the first Nuclear Missile. After 15 years, I had 18 of those suckers, and had prepared 12 transports full of marines, mech. infantry and armors down in Australia. Sailing towards Persopolis with a mighty escort of Cruisers and Battleships. After pounding their coastline, I let loose a barrage of jets, destroying forts and cities. Then came the land force. In a sea invasion worth of D-Day, I conquered the entire southern coast from Iran to Vietnam. Then came the nuclear missiles which raveged the heartland of the Persian Empire, and made it open to my advancing armors.

By 2010, the Persian Empire was a shell of what it used to be, and I finished them off with the conquest of Moscow.

Now I was pissed, and decided to use this huge army to kill the Indians and Vikings. Building separate "Africa" and "America" armies, I quickly conquered the three continents with combined efforts of nuclear attacks, air assualts, and massive ground troop invasions. I did not care about Global Warming. I wanted blood.

By 2075, I had conquered the entire planet, and relocated my capitol in the rebuilt Persopolis. I had realized that in THIS war, the East truly was better than the West.
