Official Civilization II: Test of Time PRESS RELEASE
August 9th, 1999

BEVERLY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 1999-- Hasbro Interactive today announced the launch of Civilization® II: Test of Time(TM), the newest interactive game to carry on the best-selling and award-winning Civilization® franchise. Civilization II: Test of Time allows players to develop powerful empires from the ground up and then travel to new worlds to continue the epic journey into the unknown. Civilization II: Test of Time builds upon the classic strategic gameplay with the addition of two entirely new universes of science fiction and fantasy, complete with unique terrains, graphics and technology trees to map cultural progress.
``Civilization II is considered by many to be one of the best games ever created in the history of the entertainment software industry,'' said Tom Dusenberry, president of Hasbro Interactive. ``By incorporating the heart of the original with dynamic new worlds and graphics, we believe we've created the true heir to the Civilization legacy.''

In Civilization II: Test of Time, players of all ages are challenged to create their own cultures and societies throughout history. Players can choose from three epic games covering ten exciting worlds, all rendered with updated graphics and animations. Civilization II: Test of Time contains the original Civilization II, now with colonization of the Centaurus star system, offering a whole new world for players to explore and conquer. With the addition of a new fantasy game and the science fiction game, ``Universe of Lalande,'' players are no longer confined just to Earth. They can explore their imaginations to rule over intriguing races of goblins, dragons, alien life and much more. The fantasy and science fiction games feature all new advances, units, wonders and land types for players to research and use to their advantage. In addition, each new game has linked maps to four worlds for new levels of strategy - from the exploration of subterranean caverns and underwater kingdoms to the creation of empires in the clouds or on orbiting space stations. Danger is no longer just on four sides, it's above and below, too!

Hasbro Interactive's Civilization II: Test of Time is compatible with Microsoft Windows 95/98 platforms. The game is available immediately at major retail outlets.
