HELPERS NEEDED
(26.Aug) We are currently looking for people to help us on the site, in various things(html editing, searching for news, database updating, etc.). Qualifications are love for civ2 :) ,good html knowledge, and lots of free time. Most of all we are looking for people we can count on. (21.Aug) Ever dreamed of playing civ2 in 3D graphics? Head over to Synesthetix and take a look at the screenshots of Ancient Prophecy. They really are promising!

HASBRO MAKES PLANS
(18.Aug) Gamespot News spoke with Tom Dusenberry, CEO of Hasbro Interactive and has some interesting news. We copy the most important parts.
About Avalon Hill: Hasbro's acquisition of Avalon Hill mainly involved trademarks, current and previous designs, and other tangible assets. In that sense, since Monarch Avalon(the parent company of Avalon Hill) was still responsible for the AH employees and not Hasbro, the design staff was laid off completely.
On Microprose: Hasbro Interactive fully intends on publishing everything currently in development at MicroProse and will retain MP's full research and development staff, although consolidation will occur in the marketing, management, and media departments.
So, MGE is coming, but of course we don't know exactly when. Since the development team doesn't change there will probably not be a delay due to the purchase by Hasbro. While waiting :) go read the full article from Gamespot.

ANCIENT PROPHECY: A PROMISE
(11.Aug) Synesthetix a new computer games company, contacted us to announce the development of a fantasy orientated Civilization game, called Ancient Prophecy. Ancient Prophecy promises to bring lots of new things in all parts of a civilization-like game, such as a true 3d envriroment, new features in economy and diplomacy, as long as new ideas on the military field: flexibility in the creation of new units, training, experience, and more. The game is in the early stages of development, so go to Synesthetix and tell the creators what you want in the game on the site's message board.

HASBRO BUYS AVALON HILL
(9.Aug) After 30 years in the game industry, Avalon Hill(producers of the original Civilization board game) was bought by Hasbro. What is more interesting is that according to an announcement of the two companies on Avalon Hill's web site, all employees of Avalon Hill were laid off. Read more about it on CGO.
(10.Aug) Gamecenter reports that the cost of the sale, which will not just cover Avalon Hill Game Company, but also Avalon Hill Software and Victory Games, will reach the number of $6 million.

EBWORLD CHANGES MGE DATE
(8.Aug) Rich Barrette notified us that EbWorld have changed the release date of Civ2:MGE. The release date is now September 16th(anyone betting this is the one?). If you're a release dates addict read our first article on 'The Column'.

MERGER PHASE 1 COMPLETE
(7.Aug) Apolyton CS is starting to form. See the first changes on the site: you can add your Short Tips, find other players on the MP List and discuss on the new Forums. In the next days(or weeks) :) there will be more changes, and most significant the downloads pages. We plan to have information for every single file on this site!
