I played the game for about an hour on a Mac II si, here are some of my findings.

System:

Mac II si (20 Mhz 68030), 17 MB RAM, 13 MB free. System 7.5.5

Easy install (50 MB), although I kept the CD in (4x CD ROM)

Launch time (double cliking on icon to beginning of opening movie) : 30 sec

Time to new game (hitting return for the default on all the preliminary selection screens): 1 min 30 sec

Build world : 1 minute

Launching a saved game: 50 sec

Throne room off. Not enough RAM ( or maybe it just did not launch sensing the system was too slow) for fancy civilopedia (text only works OK).

The slowest part is movement of the pieces. The pieces slide SLOWLY, but this is no surprise. If you are used to your machine being slow, you'll be OK. In my opinion it's playable, but barely, of course, I'm used to a faster machine. Remember, this is the MINIMAL system requirement.

The computer players, at least when there are no pieces visibly moving, are surprisingly fast.
