In March of 2004, Fidel Castro, in his fifty-fourth year of
dictatorial control, dies of a heart
attack. His brother, Raul Castro, emerges from his cabinet as
Castro's successor. By
November 2007, the CIA has detected evidence of a missile silo
near Havana. Lame-duck
George W. Bush, with the approval of his successor, Hillary Clinton,
demands that U.S.
weapons inspectors be admitted. Castro refuses. The U.S. gives
a deadline of January 4,
2008 for removalof nuclear weapons from Cuba. The deadline passes,
and Castro does
not back down. Castro hopes to defend his island against the Americans
until the Americans
become tired of conflict and back down.

From the approximately the 14th century, Japanese government went
into a slow
decline, due to the lack of governmental control by the Ashikaga
clan. Private
daimyo began to build armies and battle for control of the districts
of Japan.
The year is 1555. You are the daimyo of one of six feuding families.
Your
goal is to reunify the nation by 1604. The task will be difficult,
and the
blood of many a brave man will be spilled. Good luck.
MOD posted 10-Jan-01
This modpack doesn't come with a scenario but is rather intended
to be an
overall "patch" for Civ 2 MGE. There is no scenario
included (but I might add one
later), these files are meant to replace the original files of
civ 2.
Allowing you to play a normal game with new rules. - Henrik Lohmander

To End All Wars 2 - A completely refurbished, more historically
accurate, and
all-around better version of my WWI scenario. Featuring a better
map, new
units, and more events.
Added 17-Sept-00, updated 19-Sept-00, add Red Front Complete file 22-Sept-00
Red Front, is a epic scenario based on historical accounts and records. Created by Captain Nemo and Alex the Magnificent. The scenario has been converted to a Mac compatible version by Christian "Wulf" Beijner. Addtionally, Wulf has created a Macintosh AppleScript of the Delevent executable PC file! The Delevent script is required to change between seasons and years during the game. Note: nine extra sound files were left out of the above Red Front file, be sure and download them too.
Here is the Red Front Complete file. I added the nine extra sounds and compressed with StuffIt Deluxe Ver 5.5. Note that you will need to download StuffIt Expander Ver. 5.5 from Aladdin Systems or from the Utilites page. I used Ver. 5.5 partially because I have it and partially because the compressed file was much smaller. Besides, you need it anyway.
Read the Mac Red Front Read Me (it looks better downloaded) and the Delevent Read Me before attempting to play this scenario!!
It's June 1941 and tensions are mounting along the Soviet-German
border... Are the
Germans about to break the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact
signed in 1939?
You, Josef Stalin, the Commander-in-Chief of the Red Army and
sole ruler of the Soviet
Union are about to face a tremendous challenge...
This scenario takes a slightly different approach to the WWII Russian campaign: Most people expect to play the Germans and all existing scenarios are designed for play from the German side... This one is not. It is geared only towards play as the Soviets and everything has been designed to give the German AI some intelligence and to make him a challenge to beat. To those who complain that all scenarios are too easy, play this one at Deity level... and let me know if you survived 1941!
This is also a multi-faceted scenario, requiring a combination
of military power, economic development, technology development
and military strategy to win. Important factors in the game are:
Challenging defensive strategy utilizing weaker Soviet units and
"natural" defenses while making critical decisions about
"where to hold and where to run".
Building up of Ural industrial region by moving population &
improvements eastward.
Defense of key economic regions and cities.
Bringing Murmansk convoys through the German U-Boat and Luftwaffe
blockade.
Winter season factors changing entire game strategy and causing
negative effects such as starvation in the cities.
Military and economic technology tree allowing lots of new units,
improvements and wonders.

The Dark Tower:
A Tolkien-esque Heroic Fantasy scenario for Civ II, written for
the Macintosh. To be followed by a sequel, Tarantia.
This Scenario was created during a period of extended idleness
by Michael
Lacy (mike@srmdel.demon.co.uk).
"There are weapons that no man can safely wield."
-Thosos IV, historian of the Titan Wars.
Over two hundred years have elapsed since the Great Alliance
of Nations
defeated Kheldania and destroyed her imperial ambitions. During
this time, the heirs to the Iron
Throne have brooded in the fortress of Valgarast, seeking for
a way to have their revenge and
restore honour and riches to their land. King Saloth, son of Utamar
the Cruel, came upon an
ancient map in the archives of his rambling castle, and with the
help of his court Sorcerer,
deciphered the antideluvian runes and discovered a possible solution
to the problem
that had vexed his ancestors for so long. Or so he thought. .
.
Dark rumours have now reached the courts of the leaders of
the free
nations; Galanthia, Volgaria, Pathuria, Ilvania and the Thurian
Empire. Rumours concerning
an expedition mounted by the Kheldanian king to the frozen and
shattered lands of the West,
where once the mighty Titans ruled. An expedition to uncover a
terrible weapon which could
bring domination over the lands to King Saloth. Even now, armies
of Orcs roam in the foothills of
the Khorredan Mountians, and disturbing rumours from the Dwarven
cities in the Titanian
Mountains speak of things even more terrible. The Kheldanians,
aided by the cruel
Tartessians (slavers with a formidable fleet of warships) are
on the march once again...
As leader of one of the free nations, you must attempt to unite
your sometimes quarrelsome
neighbors and rebuild the Great Alliance, in order to once again
defeat Kheldania's evil ambition

HiRes ("High Resolution")
Mod Pack / Graphics Patch Version 2.4
(c)Tim F. Smith (yoohootim@hotmail.com), April, 2000
For use with Civilization II(tm) by Microprose, versions 2.x and Multiplayer
HiRes was created to replace the original Microprose Civ2 graphics with an entirely new look in a more "photo-realistic" style. Over the course of two years, many hundreds of hours were spent tracking down source material and creating these graphics. Hopefully they will allow you to enjoy Civ2 all over again!
HiRes can be installed as either as a graphics patch OR as a mod pack. As a graphics patch, HiRes will replace most of the original Microprose graphics without changing any other aspect of the game. If installed as a mod pack, HiRes makes some modest changes to the unit line up, giving a bit more detail to the development of aircraft and armored warfare. Optional sound files can be installed either way, including sounds for the new units found in the mod pack as well as replacements for some of the Microprose sound files.
(Note: this is a rather large file, 2.1 MB, and may take a
while to download on a 28.2 KB connection. - Steve
"MacUser" Wilson.)

Harlan Thompson's The Viking Age, Ver. 2.0, converted for Mac by Mantis.
The year is 850. After a period a chaos surrounding the fall
of Rome,
Europe has settled down to a period of several hundred years of
relative peace and
stabillity. All that is about to drastically change. The Vikings
have begun a two
hundred year period of pillaging and conquering that will leave
almost no part of
the West untouched.

To End All Wars a WWI Scenario by Michael Witry
June 28, 1914 On a cloudy Sunday in Sarajevo, Archduke Franz
Ferdinand
and his wife Sofie tour the city. A crowd of people has gathered
to see
them. Several members of the Serbian Black Hand terrorist group
are
among them. After a bomb nearly explodes the Archduke's car, the
assassins are rounded up by Austrian police. All but one.
The chauffeur takes a wrong turn, and backs into an alley.
An alley
where Gavrilo Princip is waiting with a pistol.
Austria, suspecting that the Serbian government backed the
Black Hand,
issued an ultimatum demanding that Austrian officials participate
in the
trials of Black Hand members. Serbia refuses, and Austria declares
war.
Russia enters on the Serbian side. Germany, hoping for eastward
expansion ("Drang nach Osten"), declares war on Russia,
and, after
France refuses to declare neutrality, invades France through Belgium.
Britain is bound by an 1839 treaty to come to Belgium's aid. Italy
and
the Ottoman Empire are late entries.
It is November, 1914. Can you break the stalemate in Europe?
Will the
Allies triumph- without American aid? Will the Central Powers
succeed in
fighting a war on two fronts? Or will both be utterly destroyed
in the
war to end all wars?
Most Civilization II scenarios that cover the First World War attempt to include the United States, and its influence upon the war. Indeed, without the U. S., the war may have ended a stalemate. But what if the U. S. hadn't intervened? In this scenario, I have presented a First World War with no America to tilt the balance, leaving the two sides evenly matched.

Gangster - The Taking of Chicago a scenario by Cam Hills has been converted to a Mac compatible version by Valmont.
Babe Ruth is sold by the Red Sox to the Yankees for $125,000,
a daily airmail service between Chicago and New York is
implemented, and the U.S. Government introduces an Act prohibiting
the production and consumption of alcoholic beverages - a move
that utimately proves to fuel crime and lead to social calamity.
The opportunity to profit from underground activities and
control authority brings about a new wave in organised crime...
Playable : Genovese Mob, Matrangas, Bonannos, Gambinos
Not for Play : Police*, Federation*, Camorras*
The scenario is fictitious. It is set in North America during a period of gun-running, bootlegging, and power building overseen by criminal syndicates. The scenario makes historical references, and features renowned mobster names from about the period of prohibition. It is not an attempt to accurately recreate the "mob wars", but set a theme or genre for an imaginary game.
Some films and media have focussed on many of these characters, often glorifying and legitimising this violent and ugly business. As the author of this scenario, I am not endorsing or supporting gangster, terrorist, or anti-police activity, however presenting a milieu for which a game of Civilization II can be played (so endith the disclaimer!) - Cam Hills

The Indian subcontinent, extended east and west to take in Afganistan and Burma.
"I made this map a few months ago and have played it many times. It has been steadily modified to improve the geography and gameplay. Civ maps are necessarily impressionistic and I think it's more important to create the look and feel of a region that to be strictly accurate. I've never been to India (I'd love to, one day) but I used satelite data and several different maps to get it about right - the desert between India and Pakistan, the rivers sweeping down from the Himalayas, the jungle in Burma...
A few compromises have been made to make the game playable, for example some of the jungle in Burma has been thinned to make it playable. However, the game is still easiest if you get to start in the north of India (the most densly populated region in the world - play the game and you'll see why), or further west, in Pakistan.
Because this is a single continent expect a lot of conflict.
This map _must_ be played flat, select 'Custom Rules' during start up and pick 'Flat World'."

The map of the Grecian area is by Lance M. Stoudt and will be used in his forth coming "Alexander" scenario.
These are scenarios that you can generally run using the graphics and sounds that come with the game. These tend to be text files. The .TXT and .SCN files go in your scenarios folder. If there is a .mp file, it will go into your maps folder.
The first original Mac scenario is here! courtesy of Jason Hall. From the author's description: My scenario is called "Conquest of Québec". It's set in 1755 (the year prior to the actual Conquest of New France by the British Forces.) There are 7 nations (Canadians (Under Montcalm), Mic Macs (on the Miramichi River in present New Brunswick), Algonquins (East of Québec City) , Beothuks (the now extinct Newfoundland Indians), Malecites (in present day Maine), English Colonists (New England) and English forces (Nova Scotia).

Joan of Arc. This is a very simple scenario, it has two files: JOAN.SCN and JOAN.TXT both of which go into the scenarios folder. No fancy conversions are necessary. Originally a PC file, it can be used as is.
Original link. It comes in .zip format, so you'll have to unzip it, but that should be no problem.
Here is a Macsized version (was only compressed and binhexed) Mac Joan in case the original does not work.
This is a list of 18 scenarios that were sent to me and are all compatible with the original single-player Civ II. The names are fairly discriptive and since I REALLY need to rework this site, I'm just posting them for now. Give 'em a download and see what you think. Steve "MacUser" Wilson.
