APOLYTON INTERVIEWS....
ACTIVISION
Joe Rumsey a.k.a Mr Ogre Call to Power 2 Lead Programmer, Activision |
When did you first visit Apolyton and why?
Shortly after the CTP1 section was created.
How often do you visit Apolyton now and for what purpose?
Several times a week, to read suggestions and answer questions on
the forums.
How would you characterize Apolyton's course over the last two years?
It's been a great forum for talking to our fans. The news sections
are great for keeping track of important events. Sometimes I learn of
previews from the front page before anyone at work says anything. The
fan created resources on the CTP1 site are great, I hope there'll be
even more for CTP2.
What's needed for Apolyton to become better? What's missing?
Honestly, I can't think of anything. It's the best external site a
developer could hope for.
Where do you see yourself and Apolyton after 2 years?
It's the only site with sections specifically for CTP1/CTP2 that I
visit on a regular basis. I think that says it all.

John Heinecke a.k.a Lt John Global Brand Manager, Activision |
When did you first visit Apolyton and why?
I first visited Apolyton back in the summer of 1998 (before the merger), when I had just been assigned to the Civilization: Call to Power marketing team.
I was looking for the best Civilization community sites on the web.
How often do you visit Apolyton now and for what purpose?
Sadly, I don't get there more than once a week right now because I've been tied up with the launch of Vampire and Dark Reign 2.
Now that the bulk of the work is done on them, I can start to visit more often!
How would you characterize Apolyton's course over the last two years?
It has gone from one of a handful of Civilization fan sites to the central hub for all Empire Building games.
What's needed for Apolyton to become better? What's missing?
I think that Apolyton needs more exposure in the mainstream online sites. When community sites for First Person Shooters or RPGs have news,
it gets picked up on bigger news sites like Blues News, Voodoo Extreme, etc. Sadly, strategy games are not covered as deeply by these sites,
and that keeps new visitors down.
Where do you see yourself and Apolyton after 2 years?
Hmmm- 2 years is a long time in the gaming industry...that's like 14 people years. Tough to say what will happen in that time.
Hopefully, I'll be directing the marketing charge on Call to Power III.
