WHAT, WHY
'PC Games' Article (December 1998)
What: Magazine Article
Why: A column discussing the participation of fans in development of computer games mentions Apolyton Civilization Site twice. Not everything written about ACS is accurate. First, members of the Call to Power team at game developer and publisher Activision Inc. did and do not moderate the forums referenced but rather ACS staff. Second, it only infers the existence of half of the site's administration, Markos "MarkG" Giannopoulos, excluding Daniel "DanQ" Quick completely. Nevertheless, here are the applicable excerpts:

A buzzy discussion epicenter for Call to Power resides online... The [CtP] team members not only moderate the forum, but also monitor and frequently participate in it. [..]

Interestingly, the gamer to whom the team listens most closely is a Greek man named Markos, who maintains a Civ site...; ironic, given that Greece is more or less considered the cradle of Western civilization.

NOTE: Four issues later was PC Games' last. IDG sold the publication to Imagine Media Inc. with the majority of the magazine's staff continuing, at least at the time, to be employed by IDG in their Internet Division [reference].
