Why: Activison Inc., the developer and publisher of the now defunct Call to Power series, released the sourcecode to Call to Power II exclusively to Apolyton Civilization Site after months of lobbying.
The BBC reported on this monumentus event as part of the 'Technology' division of their online operation. From the full write-up:
Anyone considering tinkering with the source will need a copy of Call to Power II to use it and faces a tricky task as Activision has removed all comments from the 1.8 [million] lines of code just in case any of its developers words prove libellous or damaging.
